I wish this be enough
I wish I only love you
I wish simplicity
Look at the speed out there
It magnetizes me to it
And I have no fear
Enjoy

I wish I'd only look
And didn't have to touch
I wish I'd only smell this
And didn't have to taste
How can I ignore
This is sex without touching
I'm going to explore
I'm only into this to
Enjoy

Björk’s song Enjoy was released in 1995 and it’s been described as an ode to the pleasures of life. The lyrics reveal a desire for simplicity and an appreciation for life’s small pleasures. The singer wishes she could stay in the moment forever, experiencing love and joy without any complications. The lines “I wish I want to stay here, I wish this be enough” express a longing for contentment, a wish to be satisfied with what is present in the moment.
The chorus is repeated four times, and is a powerful declaration of the singer’s intention: “Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy”. The repetition of the word ‘enjoy’ is like a mantra, urging the listener to revel in the sensations of the moment. The song’s theme of simplicity and pleasure is tied to a love of nature, the singer is magnetized by the speed of the outside world, expressing a desire to explore and discover. This is further emphasized in the lines “this is sex without touching, I'm going to explore”, with the physical sensations of touch and taste contrasted with the more abstract experience of discovery.
Björk’s Enjoy is a beautiful reminder to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life. It is an anthem to the joys that can be experienced in the present moment, and a call to live life to the fullest. The song has a catchy rhythm and melody, and the lyrics are poetic, evocative, and insightful.
