Björk Lyrics

I'll come over
And pour myself over you
Jars of fun!
Exciting stories
I'll make you forget
Tickle you a little bit
I'll shine all over
I'll cook my best dish for you
But then it's my turn
I want all your adoration
Dog, I own you
Sit down fool
You own me
I'm yours
I'm the sun
I'll shine all over you
Grab the rays
Sugar
Oops alright
I'll come over
And pour myself over you
Jars of fun!
Exciting stories
I'll make you forget
I'll make you for-get
The lyrics of Björk's song "Oops" revolve around the idea of give and take in a relationship. The first stanza presents a scenario where the singer offers themselves to their partner: "I'll come over and pour myself over you." They promise to provide entertainment and distraction ("jars of fun," "exciting stories") and to seduce their partner ("tickle you a little bit," "seduce out your good temper"). However, they also assert their own needs, stating that it's "my turn" and that they want "all your adoration."
The second stanza further highlights the power play within the relationship, with the singer claiming dominance over their partner ("Dog, I own you / Sit down fool") before quickly reversing the roles and declaring themselves owned ("You own me / I'm yours"). The final lines repeat the idea of shining like the sun and providing sweetness ("sugar") while offering to make their partner forget their troubles.
Overall, the lyrics of "Oops" suggest a complex dynamic in which both partners give and take control in a relationship. The singer presents themselves as both the entertainer and a demanding partner, offering and asking for adoration and devotion.

how exciting mid 90's Manchester England must have been when all this was going on...dance techno trip hop and One little lady with a massive voice from Iceland appeared on the scene ... and my musical world was never quite the same again...
@lucasm3879
This was early 90's. 808 State were at the centre of the late 80's/early 90's Manchester scene. Unfortunately by 1992 the scene in Manchester was pretty much dead. It's a fairly small City, and the club scene was taken over by gangsters, with violence every weekend. It burned brightly from 1988 to 1991, after that the innocence was gone. 808 still continued to make good music though.

@@lucasm3879 Why was taken it over by gangsters? Or in which way?

That's well known mate. The massive surge in drugs demand after 1988 caused all the main criminal gangs of the city to take control of the dealing in the Hacienda and the other clubs. In Feb '91 The Hacienda had to shut for three months because of constant gang violence. When it re opened, it had metal detectors on the door for weapons.
I was being harsh when I said the scene was 'dead' by 1992, that wasn't true, there was still good nights and great music, but the initial innocent period only lasted about two years.

@@lucasm3879 I am German, and my "club life" was at that time (88-93) in Berlin. I was also involved in DJing. But later in 1994 I went to London to study economics and management.
In my mind, England was not particularly violent country. Berlin was more chaotic at that time. We had in Berlin after the FALL of the WALL also illegal raves and the same problems with: drugs; guns; violence plus "right-local-skinheads" between "left-socialist pro-east idiots" (both groups were absolutely "evil scums")!
Actually I like LONDON until today more than Berlin, but I reside now in Germany (in very small town) on the border with the Netherlands, and I prefer to enjoy my dance vinyl collection at my home. We had now another enemy - COVID 19
@lucasm3879
@@chilloutzone2732
Yeah but London is totally different to Manchester. Manchester is much smaller, with fewer clubs, so the gangs were fighting over control of the drugs supply over a smaller patch. At the peak of the scene there was only around 5 or 6 proper clubs in Manchester.
The violence was never political like you say about Berlin, just about criminals wanting to claim their own turf in clubs to deal drugs and basically act like they owned the place.

The first time I heard Bjork was on this track. My ears pricked up straight away. Next thing I know she has released "Debut" and I'm watching her live in London. The rest, as they say... Awesome, original artist who is as mad as a box of frogs and all the better for it.
