Pagan Poetry
Björk Lyrics
Pedaling through
The dark currents
I find
An accurate copy
A blueprint
Of the pleasure
In me
A secret code carved, a secret code carved
A handshake
Crooked
Five fingers
They form a pattern
Yet to be matched
On the surface simplicity
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Pagan poetry
Morsecoding signals
They pulsate and wake me up
From my hibernating
On the surface simplicity
But the darkest pit in me
It's pagan poetry
Pagan poetry
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
This time
I'm gonna keep it to myself
This time
I'm gonna keep me all to myself
And he makes me want to hurt myself again
And he makes me want to hurt myself again

"I'd always wanted to work with music boxes but it was waiting for the right occasion. I'd been collecting them and stuff. The main thing was that I wanted to write my own songs in music boxes.
In the beginning, the music box company weren't very excited. They'd made wooden boxes for eons and I wanted see-through plexiglass. They couldn't get their head round it - they were like 'Why?'
They wanted to make the plonky sound softer with wood but I wanted it as hard as possible, like it was frozen. "It's about wanting to communicate, for sure. It's less cocoon-ish than the rest of the songs [on Vespertine]. It's definitely wanting to tell someone something."
"We discussed how to do something with the moving image that was a mirror of what was happening musically. . . . It had to have a different look from the video footage and from the digitally altered video footage. I knew it had to look as luscious as possible,” Chaudoir says. “It’s stripping away the artifice and the digital effects, into the raw image of Björk.”
Pagan Poetry is written and produced by Björk. It is the second song to be taken off her fourth studio album "Vespertine" as a single. The video to the track is done by Nick Knight who previously photographed Björk for the Homogenic cover image. Production: Gainsbury & Whiting. Director of Photography: Simon Chaudoir.

I feel really dumb listening to Bjork because I can't relate to the deep emotions she has for a intimate partner or living a life that's full of very highs and lows. Also, being so self-assure about who she is and what she's aiming to become/accomplish or knowing her purpose within this short and complex life we live. It's seems like it's more than just reaching the "pursuit of happiness" which is kind of a mundane mindset or a forced ideological way of thinking. She's a expert at feeling and expression on an level that not many of us can possibly reach or even comprehend such as myself. The music is so intense, beautiful, and mind bending but simultaneously genuine and true. I want to talk to her about everything.

I don't know how old you are, but just start reading Nietzsche. The younger you are, the better, because it will throw you down into life as if you were newborn. Everything is new, everything hurts, and there's no way to escape it other than being violently genuine. Kinda like puberty and the testosterone really starts to kick in and you just wanna trash everything lol

I hear you Brother. I used to not understand Bjork at all. Then I heard a few of her hits and I liked it sure. Then I heard thisnsomg and saw this video and Bjork made sense to me. She's on a level most people will never reach musically, emotionally, spiritually. I watched this video and I felt like I wasn't looking a human. She seems like an ascended lifeform far surpassing human understanding. I too thought about how cool it would be to talk to her and be completely floored by her insights.
