Sod Off
Bjork Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But here comes a warning,
There's a very clear line that i'm drawing,
And if you cross it.
Sod off
Sod off
Your third-class communication,
And bulldoze over all my sensitivities
You've read me all wrong.
Sod off
Sod off
Sod off
Sod off
Things so far,
Have been too perfect
This is the premiere
But, oh, how many dress rehearsals
I've been through
Darling this is far too pure and perfect
I let you corrupt it.
Sod off!
I wont let you ruin this.
Sod off.
Sod off.
Sod off.
Sod off.
Sod off.
The lyrics to Björk's song "Sod Off" are a straightforward warning to someone who is trying to bring the singer down or bulldoze over her sensitivities. She has been tolerant thus far, but now she's drawing a very clear line. She won't let this person corrupt something that is far too pure and perfect, and she certainly won't let them ruin it. The repetition of the phrase "sod off" emphasizes the singer's resolve and determination to set firm boundaries and refuse to tolerate negative behavior.
The song's message is empowering and makes clear that someone is not willing to put up with anything that's not up to their standards. It is a powerful reminder to stand firm against those who would try to bring us down or take advantage of our vulnerabilities. The line "You've read me all wrong" suggests that the singer is tired of being misunderstood by someone who doesn't appreciate the level of respect and care they deserve. This line also hints at the importance of communication and understanding in relationships.

1:55 was the highest note I have ever heard her sing!
Circolombisque
That's her highest loud note. Her highest quiet note is somewhere in Bath.

Yes!! I don't really like the song and I was gonna delete it but that part comes and I was surprised:'D
SER
It's a G5, and it's one of her highest chest/mixed voice notes, but not the highest. She sings it amazingly, though! She's belted higher in various Sugarcubes songs and in live perfomances throughout her career (Declare Independence live in Paris 2008, for example). And her highest head voice/falsetto note is uncertain due to her "dolphin-esque" exclamations she occasionally does haha

Hold on. Let me bring that link back. That 7+ year old comment might've aged and disabled the link to the clip. 1:55 - there!
