1) Black is the name by which Liverpool born singer/songwriter Colin Vearncombe (26/5/1962 - 26/1/2016) identified himself through his music career. Dave Dix was also a member of the band from 1981 to 1988.
His fist gig was New Year’s Day, 1982 and his debut single 'Human Features' was released the same year. An erratic few years followed and he signed for WEA records in 1984, but the relationship was not fruitful and Vearncombe was dropped during the promotion period for the single ‘More Than The Sun.’
Black had two top-ten hits in the UK in 1987: 'Sweetest Smile' and 'Wonderful Life'. The album of this name reached no. 3 in the UK album chart, but following albums and singles did not enjoy similar commercial success. He was able to continue recording music, releasing 14 albums over the course of his life. His latest, ‘Blind Faith’, was released in 2015.

Though their released music now defines them, and that has been a plethora of styles present in them from nu metal to emo like alternative, they had before that time performed in a lot of underground metal concerts covering the likes of Pantera. Now You're Gone
Black Lyrics

Wouldn't stay
And there's not much more that I can say
But your lips
That I kissed
Will never go away
From my memory
They will remain with me
There was time, now it's gone
Is this the best
We can do?
Have we come as far as we intend to?
This was comedy
It is true
I was not innocent under you
Ah my memories
They will remain with me
You were tied, now you're gone
There was time, now it's gone
Now it's gone
You were tied, now you're gone
There was time, now it's gone
Now it's gone
Ah my memories
They will remain with me
You were tied, now you're gone
There was time, now it's gone
Now it's gone
You were tied, now you're gone
There was time, now it's gone
Now it's gone, now it's gone
The lyrics of Black's song "Now You're Gone" are a reflection of the singer's feelings towards a past relationship that has come to an end. The song starts with the acknowledgement that the other person left, and there is not much left to say. The line "But your lips that I kissed will never go away from my memory" suggests that though the relationship is over, the memory of the other person's touch lingers on. The singer knows that the other person has moved on, but their memories of the relationship will always be there, suggesting a sense of longing and nostalgia.
The lyrics move on to a self-reflection, questioning how far the relationship could have gone and whether they have reached their limits. The line "this was comedy, it is true, I was not innocent under you" suggests that the relationship may have had its comedic moments, but it was not perfect, and both parties were at fault. The memories of the relationship will "remain" and "linger" on, even though the other person is now "gone".
Overall, the song conveys a sense of sadness and loss, but also a desire to hold onto the memories of the past. It suggests that though the relationship may not have worked out, the singer acknowledges the worth of the time they shared.
