The band is not to be confused with Zakk Wylde's solo project (sometimes known as Book of Shadows after its only album) or with Pride & Glory, Wylde's southern rock band.
History
In 1992, Ozzy retired after the No More Tears tour, which led Zakk to form his own solo band Pride & Glory, blending potent bluesy southern rock with heavy metal. In 1994 Ozzy decided to come out of retirement, and the numerous recording sessions for Ozzmosis took place. Around this time, Zakk was also offered the open guitar slot in Guns N' Roses and had a hard time deciding whether to tour with Ozzy or join Guns N' Roses. Neither project panned out. This gave Wylde the opportunity to record his own acoustic solo album, "Book of Shadows." After limited commercial success with Book Of Shadows, in 1998, Zakk and drummer Phil Ondich formed Black Label Society and recorded their debut album "Sonic Brew." Nick Catanese had been Zakk's touring rhythm guitarist since the Book Of Shadows tour (Zakk records all guitars on his albums). Craig Nunenmacher has been drumming for the band since 1919 Eternal (2001) following Phil's departure. Previous bass players include current Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo, former Megadeth 4-stringer James Lomenzo, and current Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, who also played with Zakk on the No More Tears, Ozzy tour.
The band had their song "Fire It Up" featured as a bonus song in the PlayStation 2 game Guitar Hero. Zakk Wylde has an avatar in the video game "Guitar Hero: World Tour", and the song "Stillborn" also appears.
Won't Find It Here

Can't find a place to rest your head
The leaves have all fallen
And your garden is dead
Turning your back now
Ain't nothing left to say
No need for tomorrow
When you can't find today
When you can't find today, oh
When you can't find today, oh
Search all you want, oh
Well you won't find it here, oh
Well the fortunes you seek, oh
They were always right here
They were always right here
Alone once again, now
Walked a mile inside your head
This movie's been played now
All is done and all is said
You're running so fast now
You can't get away
No need for tomorrow
When you can't find today
When you can't find today, oh
When you can't find today, oh
Search all you want, oh
Well you won't find it here, oh
Well the fortunes you seek, oh
They were always right here
They were always right here
When you can't find today, oh
When you can't find today, oh
Search all you want, oh
Well you won't find it here, oh
Well the fortunes you seek, oh
They were always right here, oh
Search all you want, oh
It was always right here
It was always right here
The lyrics of Black Label Society's "Won't Find It Here" touch upon themes of isolation, hopelessness, and an elusive search for meaning. The first verse describes a sense of aimlessness and inability to find comfort, both symbolically through the "dead garden" and literally through the inability to "rest your head." The line "turning your back now, ain't nothing left to say" suggests a willingness to give up and accept defeat. The chorus repeats the idea that even though one may search, what they are looking for is not to be found where they are currently searching. The second verse speaks to the feeling of being stuck in a cycle, with the movie being played out and nothing new to experience. The line "you're running so fast now, you can't get away" suggests a desperation to escape from the stagnation.
The repeated refrain of "when you can't find today, oh" emphasizes the central concept of feeling lost in the present moment, and the overall message seems to suggest that sometimes what we are seeking is actually right in front of us, but we are too blinded by our own despair to see it.
