Black Majesty Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dressed in her lace
She comes out at night
One more lonely heart
She had to fight
When all she wants
Is out of reach
Lights that shimmer call
Nights young she walks
When there is no pain left to feel
Memories will all fade
What remains is rage

The trials of life are lessons learnt
And that is what you follow
It's taken you from years to tears
Hold on just can't let go
Living on rage
He's on the run
One more life to take
He surely would
When all he wants
Is out of reach

There's no more taking
While walking the mile

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Black Majesty's song "Follow" depicts the struggles of two individuals trying to escape their painful realities. The first verse talks about a woman who puts on a faƧade of elegance ("dressed in her lace") and ventures out at night to escape her loneliness. She seems to have fought the battles of love and relationships, but to no avail. Despite her yearning for something more ("all she wants is out of reach"), she is drawn by the allure of the glittering lights and walks through the night.

The second verse introduces a man who is living on the edge of the society. He is hunted by his past and running from the present. The lyrics suggest that he has taken lives before and would not hesitate to do it again. He, too, is trying to escape his reality ("all he wants is out of reach"), but in his case, he is driven by his own rage. The chorus of the song suggests that both characters have learned lessons from their struggles, as these are the only things that they can follow. They cannot let go of their past, and the trials they have faced have given them strength, purpose, and resilience to keep going.

This is a very interesting reaction video. I remember listening to the debut album when it came out and kinda brushed it under the carpet, cause at the time there was so much better stuff being released. I've rediscovered them with their 2015 release Cross of Thorns, which I quite liked. But I definitely agree with Michaels sentiment that it's good, but there is very little outstanding songs.

On "Cross of Thorns" it's the same patterns, the first 2 songs (Phoenix, Anneliese) are amazing and then it drifts into "good". They have a badass band name and great album arts and the music is good, just not good enough to stick out. Strangely enough Something's Going On was also the song that I was gravitating to on the newest album. I can't really explain why. But the newest album is definitely worse for me than Cross of Thorns.

Now to a hopefully interesting part. Here are some cool Australian Power Metal Bands:

Dragonsclaw - Angels in White: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkanM4Bw230 (This is pure gem)

Crimsonfire - Eternal Days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdhOwEMNvNA

Ilium - Littoria: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rq0d8zxRnDs

And some classical Heavy Metal:

Pegazus - Road Warrior: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxHVleVA8OM

Cheers

Vanishing Point, Eyefear, Lord are great"Power metal" bands from Australia, we have a great metal scene with all forms of metal covered.
Among my favorites are
-Deathcore band Thy Art Is Murder
-Pagan/Viking band Valhalore
-Airborne ( basically ACDC next generation but heavier and great driving music)
Destroyer 666(Aussie Black Metal based in Germany now)
NeOblivescaris( Progressive metal)
Honestly there's too many to name.
As well as this (Black Majesty) and those power metal bands I named.

The opening to "Forever Damned" reminds me of "No Return" by Avantasia. Another great band!

The singer John has an Italian background .John gets the nick name "GIO" from his first name in Italian, it's short for Giovanni ..but also he is known to be a huge Ronnie James Dio fan aswell..

Oh, thank you for naming NeOblivescaris, this was the band I was thinking about in the video - their bass player is Daniele from Ancient Bards (an Italian band),, who is an amazing guitarist! Must check out the other bands, too. Great list! - Anamaria

I think the singer looks and sounds alot like Zach Stevens (Savatage, Circle II Circle, TSO), moreso than Dio.
