Darin looked older than his age, due to his health. I'm not talking about men in the 50s and 60s looking more mature due to their clothes and hair (his a wig), but by comparison to his contemporaries like Troy Donahue or Tony Bennett.

In his 20s he looked in his 30s. In his thirties he looked very much 50..and at the end older.

An actor like Spacey could nail the end, but use makeup to approximate the beginning. That is the way of movies that span 18 years in a person's life...but still requiring you to overlook that.

Also Spacey was pitching this movie for almost a decade before he had the gravitas to get it produced.

I can't think of a single actor at the time that could have done it better.

I cried instantly when he introduced Nina to the stage as the woman who raised him and called her his Mother. Wow, that scene really hit me!❤

I got my very first 45 music record in 1964 when I was just 4. It was Elvis Presely, "Teddy Bear". Then in 65 I got my first album. It was the 1960 release of "This is Darin", Bobby's 1960's album.

When I saw this movie the first time I immediately went out and purchased the CD for my car of the soundtrack. I grew up listening to Bobby Darin and I find the Kevin Spacey renditions nearly identical although with a little more "umph" in them and a little more punch from the band. I won't go as far as saying I like his renditions better than Bobby's, I just happen to prefer to listen (and sing along) to Kevin's CD more.

He was BRILLIANT in this role. Its time to stop playing "gotcha" from the past and recognize what a world class actor and even singer this guy is. Kevin Spacey is the man.

This is one of top 5 movies. Spacey fits this role like a glove...honestly, I prefer his voice! He’s most definitely talented ...the rest fits the Hollywood mold, the curse of evill that owns Hollywood...makes a pact with h the Devil. When my niece was seven, she and I watched the original "That Darn Cat" from 1965. She fell in love with the theme song and asked who sang it. I told her it was Bobby Darin. She wanted to write to him and tell him she loved his voice; however, she became upset when I told her he was dead.

Bobby Darin was a class act on and off the stage, he is hard to beat. I think the only one who comes close is Jim Nabors who had tremendous stage presence in both his singing and comedy sketches.

We saw Bobby in Las Vegas in 1961. It was an intimate dinner show and he was good looking & he gave us a great performance. I was so terribly saddened when he died.

I am so hesitant to spend time with this movie. Given Hollywood's record for totally inaccurate biopics.... Did they get this right? Honest question for Bobby Darin fans who know more of his life than I do. Loved the movie . Mr. Kevin Spacey. This man was ruined by his indiscretions. However he was an actor with class on the screen. He belongs up there with the best of the actors of his time. I miss watching his movies. Never watched one I didn't like . Was so broken hearted over what happened and knowing we would not enjoy his talent again. He was an Icon.

Just me but if Kevin Spacey wanted to play a musician with the and musical story he went with, maybe he should’ve chosen a different person. He’s in his 40s playing a 20s Bobby Darin. A man in his 40s doesnt have the same energy or feel as someone in their 20s or even 30s would. His voice is pretty deep as well compared to Bobby Darin, more like near (maybe not) a dean martin type. Plus theres too many events happening at once. They could’ve just focus on 50s Darin and 60 or 70s Darin after the decline, and through those scenes we get to see who Walden Robert Cassotto is,

I cannot stand Kevin Spacey. That being said, I think he knocked this out of the park. I think he was absolutely fabulous in this movie. I loved Bobby Darin. He died when I was a ‘tween. My love for he and his music has just grown over the years. I often think what he would be doing today, had he not died so young.

This movie has a bit of a "La La Land" feel, given the amount of tap and the several production numbers. Perhaps an attempt to revive the singing and dancing musicals that died out in the 50s? La La Land was released in 2016, but it seems that someone on this movie was already thinking in that direction? Unfortunately, Spacey is frankly too old for this part, and he is not a strong enough dancer to insert the pure joy needed for a truly successful musical. Just wish Spacey had been more of a producer and even director, but been honest enough to put big energy into casting the right leading man to completely pull this off. Bobby Darin probably would have wanted him to really get it right.

Now Bobby never talked to Jules Podell, the owner of the Copa like that, He was in the Frank Castello crime family. Now Sammy Jr did play the Copa because of Sinatra but not Bobby. Back in those days they used to "sweep things under the rug" as the saying goes. Doing that does not make it right. They did not have the help, from therapy, psychiatrist, and psychologist as we do today. Those forms of therapy were in their infancy. Kevin was molested all his life as a youngster, it was the only thing he knew. No, that still does not make it right, and as he grew older, at some point he knew it was wrong, very wrong. Did he try to get help? We don't know, but maybe he did. Unless we can walk in another man's shoes, we will never know how he felt during or after the deed was done. There are many sick people in the world like Kevin. The Bible says "Judge not, lest thee be judged." May God heal his soul, and take this affliction from him.

I appreciated Spacey's efforts and talent here. But 1) He was too soft vocally. Bobby was Bronx born and edgy. KS came off like a marshmallow. And 2) Once the allegations came to light, I threw the DVD in the garbage. I thought Andrew McCarthy would have been great as Darin back in the 80s or 90s.

He's too old for this role..lm Bobby Darins fan from the started, and he wasn't that tall or old as Spacey. ..Todd should make another movie about his parents before they got married with an actor younger, and that could lip sing Bobby's songs, because it would be more better than Spacey's singing Bobby's song, but his voice isn't like Bobby's.

I don't think the actress who plays Sandra Dee looks anything like her. At least Spacey resembles Bobby Darin, although Spacey is much older.

Loved sandra dee and Bobby darin they both suffered at a young age. ❤ read his life it was tragic and was forbidden to date or marry his very 1st love connie Francis. Connie had a tragic life as well as sandra dee. They were my idols as was elvis.thank u u tube for this version of his and Sandra's life for free.

Loved the story but Kevin Spacey I. This role was just not believable, he does not look like a teenager or even a 20 or 30, 40 yr old. Had trouble thru the whole movie trying to believe his was Bobby Darin. Bad casting by the director.

I was born in 1952. I was a fan of Bobby Darin. He was known as a producer also, and very giving to new young talent. Can you imagine what he would have acheived if he lived longer? I wasn't a Spacy fan, but he did a great job all the way around. His dancing and singing impressed me. Great movie. Didn't know his background and health issues. He acheived alot in a very short time. Bravo!

Wow. That was stunning. Not at all what I expected but so SO incredible. I don’t cry too easily in movies, but the times I really cry are always these “performer” biopic-style films. I cried when they cut away from Shallow to the piano in A Star Is Born. And when they cut away from Darin at 1:45:39 , I bawled. Jesus. This was very well done. Much love Bobby, you really are forever. ❤️

I lost myself in Kevin’s acting & thought for a moment it was Bobby Darin - wow! I did not know Kevin actually sang Darin’s songs. What a talent! Darin’s story about his mother, reminds me about a similar story of Jack Nicholson’s mother & sister. Who Jack thought was his mother was actually his grandmother & he found out at age 36 in 1974 by a Times magazine reporter! 😱 By that time both sister & mother were dead. 🙏🏼
