They described their style as visual synthpop or synth noir, with experimental tones in some of the songs.
Emke and Sophie had started to perform as dancers together at the biggest local industrial/cyber party series called Kollektíva, and in 2005 they’ve formed a small theatre group called Art Macabre with 7 members, for bringing the horror genre to life on stage. They’ve performed on dark/goth events, and had two succesful self-organized shows in the Merlin Theatre, Budapest. That’s where the idea of a theatrical musical project came from.
Sophie used to play the piano since her childhood, Emke is singing and writing poems, some of them were published in a hungarian teen magazine in the end of 90’s. After buying her first keyboard for learning, Emke started to write songs, her hungarian poems turned into english lyrics. Sophie composed melodies on their Bösendorfer piano, and Emke did the vocals.
The name Black Nail Cabaret came from their everyday tool in the gothic subculture: the black nail polish. Cabaret means they don’t take it so serious.
Satisfaction

With a metal cold vibration
Tiny cherry candy
Instead of wild sexuality
There's no face to forget
So wipe away the sweat
Wipe away your makeup
There's nothing to be scared of
There lives someone in your body
Your biomachinery
Needs a touch
Don't you cry, don't be whiny
There lives someone in your body
Your biomachinery
Needs a God
You need satisfaction
You need time to feel
You need satisfaction
Recover yourself
How do you describe the pain?
Is it your soul or just the flesh
Questions make you empty
And your faith became a mess
You and your psycho movies
A new imaginary friend
Sitting in your room with your ghosts
Your lover must be dead
Don't you cry, don't be whiny
There lives someone in your body
Your biomachinery
Needs a touch
Don't you cry, don't be whiny
There lives someone in your body
Your biomachinery
Needs a God
You need satisfaction
Give me some expressions
I'm talking, I'm talking
so push me to the bed
or hit me in the mouth
I'm talking to you
You need satisfaction
You need time to feel
You need satisfaction
Recover yourself
How do you describe the pain?
Is it your soul or just the flesh
Questions make you empty
And your faith became a mess
I'm talking, I'm talking to you...
The lyrics to Black Nail Cabaret's song "Satisfaction" express emotional frustration and a desire for fulfillment. The first verse is about feeling unsatisfied with a lack of wild sexuality and instead resorting to something small and insignificant like candy. The use of the phrase "metal cold vibration" could be interpreted as a reference to a sex toy. The next couple of lines are about wiping away one's exterior appearance and not being scared of the vulnerability that remains underneath. The chorus repeats the phrase "You need satisfaction" over and over again, emphasizing the need for fulfillment. The second verse expands on the idea of feeling unfulfilled and empty, asking whether the pain is coming from the soul or just the flesh. The last lines of the song are confrontational and suggest that the singer is demanding that the person they are talking to fulfill their needs.
Overall, the song seems to be about feeling unfulfilled in various aspects of life and the desire for satisfaction.

This fits into a part of my brain-space I wasn't aware of. It's just. . .right. There are nods to certain influences that I've loved for a very long time, yet they aren't aped or replicated. Fresh, yet familiar, like a rose.
