slave
Black Sunshine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Gripping the wheel
His knuckles went white with desire!
The wheels of his Mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45.
True death: 400 horsepower of
Maximum performance
Piercing the night...
This is black sunshine.)
Yeah! Move me in the silence
Baltic motorway
Hang me on the edge
Before I fall away
Apocalypse is dawnin'
Action on the mile
A "can-do" revolution
Earth to the river
Sweet'n the ride
Sweet'n the ride
Sweet'n the ride
Sweet'n the ride
Cry a river "cosmic"
Moon in Scorpio
Feel her body "breathe"
Acid radio
Tell me that you like it
When I'm going down!
Tell me that you like it
Move to the speed of
Sweet'n the ride
Sweet'n the ride
Sweet'n the ride
Sweet'n the ride
Slide into i said "44" cool heart can a
Hypnotize
Dream into infinity
I turned the love to lies
Crawl across the water
Wave and sink into the sea
Reflect'n onto everything
That you can never be
Check-out!!
Yeah!
To the devil a daughter comes 2000
Worlds away
Born to lose the love you choose
Destroy another day
Check out!!
Sweet'n the ride (Black Sunshine) Sweet'n the ride (Yeah!)
Sweet'n the ride (Black Sunshine) Sweet'n the ride
Stare into the T.V. kiss off the pain! Wonderland is falling
No sing, no rain
Momentary damage into the high
Drift me to the circuit sky
(Finally nothing moves. High noon - Blacktop

Rolling below the asphalt drive - A concrete fascination
Scraping the edge of nothing - This is blacksunshine.)

Overall Meaning

The Black Sunshine's song "Slave" is a hard rock song that talks about the thrill of speed and the freedom that comes with it. The first stanza talks about a man driving his Mustang at high speed, his desire for speed evident in the tight grip he has on the wheel, and the thrill of the car exploding on the highway is compared to a bullet shot from a .45. The chorus talks about wanting to be moved by the silence and the motorway, that sense of freedom and the adrenaline rush that comes with it. The song has an apocalyptic feel to it, with the action culminating on the mile, a sense of revolution and change.

The next stanza talks about the beauty of driving on the road, the sweet ride that comes with it, and the way the moon affects everything under its light. Acid radio is a reference to the psychedelic, trippy nature of rock and roll, and the lyrics suggest someone enjoying themselves while going down. The song urges the listener to move along with the rhythm and to slide into the cool of the night, to find a kind of hypnotic trance into infinity.

The final stanza showcases a unique sense of imagery and wordplay, with the devil's daughter coming two thousand worlds away, born to lose the love she chooses. The song ends with the phrase, "Wonderland is falling, no sing, no rain." The song is a celebration of speed and freedom, of a life lived on the edge, with the risk of everything collapsing, and yet still managing to find some beauty in the destruction.
