Sweet Blasphemy
Black Veil Brides Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Through sadness you have taught us to be one with the crowd
Unveil the sacred order, hymns of falling down
You told the greatest stories, of love and bleeding crowns
But to the sick and hungry, you cannot be found

We are young and we are strong
Through strength in self we become
Something more than they can be
I raise my heart 'n say

That I wont believe this lie
I know there's something more inside
When darkness is all you see
This is our sweet blasphemy

Silence the crooked holy, unchain the tied and bound
No time for allegory, one true reigning sound
Unite the lonely mourning, a simple servant now
We are the only glory, hear us screaming loud

We are young and we are strong
I raise my heart 'n say

That I wont believe this lie
I know there's something more inside
When darkness is all you see
This is our sweet blasphemy

We are young and we are strong
Through strength in self we become
Something more than they can be
This is our sweet blasphemy

That I wont believe this lie
I know there's something more inside

When darkness is all you see
This is our sweet blasphemy

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sweet Blasphemy by Black Veil Brides carry a message of empowerment and rebellion. The song speaks to the youth, encouraging them to reject the lies and allegories of the crooked holy and instead find strength within themselves. The first verse alludes to the teachings of a figure who has taught the crowd to come together in sadness, but who cannot be found by the sick and hungry. This could be interpreted as a religious leader or even a political figure who has failed to provide for the needs of their followers.

The chorus declares the band's rejection of these lies and their belief in something more, despite the darkness that surrounds them. The second verse calls for action to be taken, urging for the freeing of the tied and bound and for the lonely to unite in a simple servant attitude. The final chorus brings the message of strength and rebellion back with the declaration that the youth are young and strong and that they will be something more than what their detractors say they can be.

Overall, Sweet Blasphemy speaks to those who feel oppressed or neglected by those in power, encouraging them to find strength within themselves and each other to rebel against those forces and find something more.

His voice got so much smoother holy shit

@ScarletFlower95

Yes!! In the early days he definitely pulled his voice down in his throat quite a lot. His modern voice is more balanced for sure.

@VelinSevven

Also a lot less of those little inflections. His voice was pretty wavy on the first record. Now he just sustains better.

I feel like they didn't mix the vocals well in this song. The instrumental is louder than Andy's voice. I don't understand why they did that, is it on purpose or a mistake? Hopefully the album is mixed well so we can hear Andy better.

@porterdavis1612

Filip Cașcaval listen to it on a set of speakers or good headphones it sounds a lot more balanced than on phone or computer speakers

@carlosavila4290

@@filipcascaval7907 It''s better imo. Idk but it sounds perfect to me, Jake did an amazing job with the production and it sounds much more powerful like this
