Living Proof
Black Water Rising Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Insanity with its little teeth
Is gaving at my brain
And slowly driving me insane...

Black water
Black water
Black water fever's drowning me!
Black water fever...
Drowning me!

For suffering will always be provided
For those in need
And i'm being punished for my deed...

Drowning me!

This is the harvest that we reap
And it's growing from the baddest sced
Once more the circle is complete...

Black water fever... drowning me!

Overall Meaning

In Black Water Rising's song Living Proof, the singer is describing their inner turmoil and mental instability that is slowly taking over them. The use of the imagery of "insanity with its little teeth" emphasizes how insanity can slowly take over a person's mind and slowly destroy them. The repeated phrase "Black water fever's drowning me!" serves as a metaphor for the suffocating feeling of drowning in one's own thoughts and emotions.

The line "For suffering will always be provided for those in need" reflects the idea that suffering is inevitable and almost necessary for personal growth and development. The singer then admits to being punished for their past actions and how their current state of mind is a result of their own mistakes. This realization highlights the cycle of cause and effect and how our actions can lead to our own suffering.

I'm with the rest of you. I think this band rules. Good touch of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden with a modern edge. Smart lyrics as well from Traynor.
