The band evolved in the mid-1990s after the dissolution of the Irreverent. It was originally known as Witchery, before adapting their current name in 1999.

History:
The band issued a pair of splits and an EP before dropping their caustic debut album, Desecration of the Holy Kingdom, in 2001 through Full Moon Productions. In 2005, they signed with the French independent label Osmose Productions and released their second effort, Upheaval of Satanic Might, followed by a split album with Archgoat, entitled Desecration & Sodomy in 2008, which followed with a European tour of the two bands in 2017.

A live album, Live Desecration Ritual, was released in 2010. Their third full-length Inferno of Sacred Destruction arrived in 2010, followed by the Nuclear War Now! Productions-issued Evil Shall Prevail in 2016, the latter of which compiled tracks from the band's early demos and split EPs, and also included previously unreleased material. In February 2, 2016, former guitarist Steve "Tragende" Childers died as a result of a car accident at the age of 49.

Naturally, when one thinks of Satanic Floridian death metal, the first names that come to mind are Morbid Angel and Deicide. In the early 90’s a beef between said scene and the Norwegian black metal movement transpired; namely amongst the aforementioned Deicide and Mayhem. During that time and whilst this silly conflict took place, a far more sinister collective than even Deicide and Mayhem began to take its bestial form. In 1996, Winter Springs, Florida’s Black Witchery was birthed dripping with blasphemy and hell bent on desecration onto the scene (as Irreverent from ‘91 - ‘96). Taking a page out of Blasphemy and Acheron’s unholy book, the overshadowed black/death metal movement continued in all of its cursed malevolence.

Nothing but the most brutal sonic defilement here: devoid of technicality, only the epitome of bestial savagery to rape and bludgeon. A mere three LP’s to boot but a score of obscure recordings make up Black Witchery’s discography. How very black metal. Fuck major labels and the whole Florida DM pissing contest. For BW, the spreading of evil was the only concern. Vomit on the Bible, piss on the cross! The apex of desecration. In 2010, Black Witchery unleashed their “Inferno of Sacred Destruction” LP via the now renowned Osmose Productions.

Nasty, sick and fucking brutal - a no-holds-barred celebration of blasphemy - a baser level of wickedness. With tracks like “Holocaustic Church Devastation” and “Barbarism Domination”, Black Witchery summon from the pits of Hell all new levels of evil. Pure aggression in the form of grinding riffs and putrid blast-beats to send you reeling into the great inferno with diabolical pleasure. To dredge the very depths of both black and death metals respectively was the name of the game. And to revel in the fiery mire alongside Hell’s great demons as the sound of raw and punishing black death permeated the acrid atmosphere. Wild guitar effects in the intro to “Kingdom Against Kingdom” give way to abysmal grinds and thundering cadences. An homage to unholy war waged against divinity. Ghastly vocals overlay an already wretched soundscape. Pure Satanic energy unleashed.

Not for the faint of heart and definitely a defecation upon everything that the Florida death metal scene stood for. A different kind of beast altogether; one that took extremity to heights rarely scaled in those days. Music to have churchgoers pissing themselves in fear and without a fuck to give, no less are Black Witchery. Very little to be said about this band’s evolution and that’s the way they like it apparently. True black/death metal done the American way: torque, horsepower and density… Morbid Angel and Deicide? Choir boys when compared to these Left Hand Path-scourging miscreants.
