So good I can't believe it, screaming with the crowd
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
On your feet you feel the beat, it goes straight to your spine
Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you fly
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
Know your body's made to move, ya feel it in your guts
Rock 'n' roll ain't worth the name if it don't make ya strut
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
The lyrics to Black Witchery's song "Overkill" exude a sense of unbridled energy and intense passion for heavy metal music. The singer claims that the only way to truly experience music is when it is played at ear-shattering volumes, so loud that it becomes a physical sensation that one can feel in their bones. The song encourages the listener to give in to this sensation, to let go of all the inhibitions and to scream with the crowd, to let the music move them.
The lyrics also reference the physicality of music, describing how the beat can go straight to one's spine, and how the feeling of the music can be felt in one's guts. This idea is also reflected in the line "Rock 'n' roll ain't worth the name if it don't make ya strut." The message of the song is clear: music is not just a passive experience, but an active one where the listener can become truly engaged, and even physically moved, by the sound.
Overall, "Overkill" is a celebration of the raw power of heavy metal music, and a call to lose oneself in the experience. The lyrics are simple and direct, but they tap into a primal energy that speaks to the heart of what music is all about.
