Originally it was formed by Sandra Oliveira (voice), Ricardo Silveira (drums; ex- Gangrena), Luís Carvalho (guitar) and Diogo Vidinha (bass). Their main objective was to create excellent and innovative music, and above all pleasurable to play and sing.
Inspired by the old school of Rock and Metal, but focused on doing something new, they intertwine rich melodies with interesting lyrics, creating intimate surroundings with a strong Rock sound, and combining heavy guitars with the raw tone of the human voice.
The year of 2011 was dedicated exclusively to composing new original songs, and to the construction of the identity of the band.
For personal and professional reasons, Luís Carvalho leaves Blame Zeus in December 2012, closing a 2-year cycle, and André Ribeiro fills in his spot. Already known from previous collaborations with Sandra and Ricardo, the former member of Oblique Rain takes his place as the band's guitarist.
In just three months, with intensive work, in March 2013 Blame Zeus start performing live. They play at Metalpoint; in the Motard Club Campense in Santo Tirso, and participate in various band competitions in Matosinhos, Amarante, Famalicão, among others , always with the aim of promoting the band and making their music reach as many people as possible . This whole process was also accompanied by the sound technician and musician Rui Barreiros, who greatly contributed to improve their sound.
Meanwhile, the need arose to search for a second guitarist or keyboardist: someone to expand creative horizons and explore other possibilities, apart from making the existing songs sound more complete in a live situation. In September 2013 they received for this position Vítor Braga. The band continues to play live until December, ending the year with the Hard Club gig, opening for Kandia.
In February 2014 they start recording IDENTITY at Raising Legends Studio, with producer André Matos. In April their fans help fund the album through a successful crowd funding project. In July they sign with Raising Legends Records, and on the 1st of September their debut album IDENTITY is officially released.
Sleep
Blame Zeus Lyrics

Afraid I could relate
To the monster that's inside of me
I can't forget
What you said I wouldn't do
Right then I did to you
Clueless of the love I left behind
Every word is just a word that covers up the dirt
So this is all you're worth
Not me, I'm dead under the sea of lies and deceit
What can you see when you shut your eyes to…
Sleep, sleep, lay your head down, lay your head down
Stay, I'm begging you to stay
While time drags away
The happiness inside of me, it's a disgrace
How… it's easy to be mean
As cold as a machine
Spitting in your very pretty face
Once again
Every word is just a word that covers up the dirt
So this is all you're worth (you filthy little whore)
Not me, I'm dead under the sea of lies and deceit
What can you see when you shut your eyes?
Sleep, sleep, lay your head down, lay your head down
Careful with the broken glass
The mirror's gone, we're alone at last
We're finished now, there's nothing left
You've put a bullet right through my chest
Sleep, sleep, lay your head down, lay your head down
The song 'Sleep' by Blame Zeus explores the themes of hate, regret, and the repercussions of one’s own actions. The lyrics suggest that the singer is holding onto hate, yet is afraid that they could become the very thing they hate. The “monster inside” of them is a reflection of their own actions, as they cannot forget what they did to someone they loved. They are clueless about the love they left behind, which leads them to feel dead and lost in a sea of lies and deceit.
The chorus of the song, which repeats the word 'sleep' several times, can be interpreted as a symbol of the singer's desire to escape reality and forget about their actions. They are begging for respite from their own thoughts and feelings. The song also touches on the ease of being mean, suggesting that it is easier to hurt others than to accept one's own mistakes.
The final verse speaks about broken glass and mirrors, indicating that the singer has been shattered by their own actions. They are alone and finished with nothing left, as they have destroyed everything they held dear. The last line, “You've put a bullet right through my chest,” is a metaphor that suggests that the singer's own actions have ultimately led to their downfall.
