Perfect Silence
Blank & Jones Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The most perfect silence is
When there is no need to speak
The most perfect silence is
When there's no need to explain

The most perfect moment is
When we just come from different circumstances
But the stream of lust flows into the same direction

The most perfect silence is
When there's no need of showing
Something is true
When you see the same pictures
From another point of view

When there's no need to search the outside
No need to linger on
Not a single something left to distract you
No need to want

[Repeat x2]
Don't you see how I long
How I long
For that moment to come?

The most perfect silence is
When there's no need to speak
The most perfect silence is
When there's no need to explain

When there's no need to search the outside
No need to linger on
Not a single something left to distract you
No need to want

[Repeat x2]
Don't you see how I long

How I long
For that moment to come?

Overall Meaning

"Perfect Silence" by Blank & Jones is a song that explores the beauty and power of silence. The song asserts that the most perfect silence is when there is no need to speak or explain. The singer of the song suggests that true understanding and connection can happen in moments when words are not necessary. The most perfect moment is when people who come from different backgrounds can connect and experience the same emotions, feelings or desires. It's not about what's been said, but more about how similar they are in their aims.

The song continues to address how perfect silence is when there is no need for showing something is true. There's a sense of shared perception, where both parties involved see things from the same perspective. There's no need to search the outside, and nothing left to distract you from the moment at hand. It's a moment where longing and desire for something more are replaced by the satisfaction of what is here and now. The song concludes with an almost climactic repetition of the singer's call for that moment to come, sung in repetition with a slowly building steady electronic beat leading to the outro.

The song's themes parallel the trance genre's exploration of repetitive soundscapes that can lead to a sense of transcendence. Its message is clear, and the arrangement is precise, offering a feeling of being adrift in space, waiting for that moment of perfect silence, where nothing is left to be spoken. The song's minimalist yet effective production creates a meditative atmosphere for the listener.

One of the OGs of trance. Proper trance, that is. Bobo's voice is a perfect, natural fit and this version, alongside the Future Pop and Martin Roth's St. Kilda 5 PM remixes are simply gorgeous. I dearly miss the good old days when you knew that you couldn't go wrong with B&J and all of their tunes were (and still are) proper bangers.
