Some thought their one and only album, 'Walls have Ears' was by the Attractions (Elvis Costello's band) whom they superficially resembled. Others noted the "direction" credit to well-known producer (and Costello associate) Roger Bechirian and assumed all songs and instruments must be by Bechirian. Some reviews at the time mentioned the name Pete Marsh as the possible main-man of the band – Marsh was originally a member of Easy Street, a mellow acoustic act of the '70s whose ranks also included Richard James Burgess, who went on to produce plenty of synthpop in the '80s. Marsh later appeared on Nick Lowe's The Abominable Showman album.
Extensive research by Blanket of Secrecy fan Gary L. Maher eventually identified the participants definitively as:
Pete Marsh ("Tinker") - vocals and guitar
Roger Bechirian ("Soldier") - keyboards and backing vocals
Andy Howell ("Tailor") - bass and backing vocals
Note their "nicks"; Tinker, Tailor, Soldier... and is there a Spy? (As in John Le Carres's famous spy novel.) Mystery not fully solved?

I went through my old cassette tapes and I rediscovered the album.
@StephenSchnee
One of the greatest albums of the era... and only on vinyl? Surely you jest? Your music has had a profound effect on me and so many others of my generation. It may not have shifted the units it so rightly deserved, but it has withstood the test of time and remains a true classic. Let me publicly thank YOU for helping to create this magnificent music!

Best screams.

I look forward to learning more. I tried to follow you and Pete as much as possible, but it got difficult in the pre internet days. I had the Simon Byrne album, was already a fan of Nick Lowe when you got involved with that. In fact, I pretty much knew all the stuff on your YT page. But anxious to hear and learn more. Once a fan, always a fan.

So, is it true that there was a 2nd BoS album recorded, at least in part? And please take this time to direct fans to your other work as well! I assume going to your youtube page will surely point them in the right direction? And for the record (pun partially intended), were you Tinker, Tailor or Soldier? :)

You did not write this at all. It was written by Ron Chadwick & Pete Marsh.
