Blanks 77 was conceived by vocalist Mike Blank and drummer Chad 10 Seconds during jam sessions at rock club, The Pipeline. Guitarist Renee Wasted was added after she replied to an ad placed in a local music newspaper. Blanks 77 has gone through three bass players since its inception. Original bassist Brendan, who had previously played with the Connecticut-based group, Devestation, was replaced by Geoff, who gave way to Timm "T.J." Blank, formerly the lead singer and guitarist for The Broken Heroes, in 1995.
Blanks 77's debut album, "Killer Blanks", was released in Germany in 1995 and in the United States the following year. Their second album, "Tanked And Pogoed", followed in 1997.
Drag

Every night is like Saturday night
Everybodys liking what they see
Sometimes looks are deceiving
[Chorus:]
Your a drag
Are you a lady or a closet queen
Another dream is laid to waste
'cause your just not another pretty face
some think your easy just a little sleazy
Some even beg you to stop your teasing
If they knew they wouldn't dare
Then there's some that just don't care
Blanks 77's song "Drag" is a punk rock anthem about a person who presents themselves as a woman, but is actually a man. The first verse encourages the singer to put on lipstick and put on a show, as every night is like a Saturday night for this person. The chorus then reveals the true nature of the character, as he is a "drag," which in this sense means a male who dresses and presents as a woman.
The second verse reveals that some people consider the character to be a "closet queen," meaning that he is homosexual but keeps it hidden. Others are attracted to him and beg him to stop his teasing, but if they knew the truth about him they wouldn't dare. There are also some people who simply don't care and continue to admire him for his looks.
Overall, the song is a commentary on appearances and how they can be deceiving. The character is a metaphor for the idea that sometimes people are not who they appear to be, and that we should not be so quick to judge based on appearances alone.
