Blanks 77 was conceived by vocalist Mike Blank and drummer Chad 10 Seconds during jam sessions at rock club, The Pipeline. Guitarist Renee Wasted was added after she replied to an ad placed in a local music newspaper. Blanks 77 has gone through three bass players since its inception. Original bassist Brendan, who had previously played with the Connecticut-based group, Devestation, was replaced by Geoff, who gave way to Timm "T.J." Blank, formerly the lead singer and guitarist for The Broken Heroes, in 1995.
Blanks 77's debut album, "Killer Blanks", was released in Germany in 1995 and in the United States the following year. Their second album, "Tanked And Pogoed", followed in 1997.

With nowhere to go but this broken school bus
Shouts of sellout across the land
Reach in my pocket 50 cents in hand
[Chorus:]
Hit and run there I go
Now you see me now you don't
On your feet you better run
another town another pretty face
See ya later maybe in the next place
Shed a tear while I disappear
Don't you worry I'll be back next year
another city another night
Andother drink another fight
Checkin out - were checking out fast
Not our first it won't be our last
Blanks 77's song "Hit and Run" is a fast-paced punk rock tune that depicts the life of a struggling punk band who tours the country trying to make a buck. The lyrics start off with the singer talking about the grind of touring and how they are constantly on the move, from one city to another, one show to another. However, despite their efforts, they are constantly accused of being a sellout by the local punk rock communities they encounter. They even barely have any money to their name, with only 50 cents in their pocket. The chorus then goes on to describe the band's modus operandi, which is simply to hit the stage, put on a show, and then quickly move on to the next gig, leaving no trace behind.
The second verse follows the same theme of constant touring and meeting new people. The band members comment on the fleeting nature of their interactions with people. They meet new faces and places and have to leave quickly, with the hope of meeting them again someday. However, the chorus reemphasizes the idea of leaving quickly or running away, whether it's after a show or from a fight. The song concludes with the singer saying, "Not our first, it won't be our last" - a line that sums up the band's philosophy of being always on the move.
