Rollercoaster
Bleachers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It was summer when I saw your face
Looked like a teenage runaway
Oh god I never thought we'd take it that far
Some killer queen you are

Now I'm running and I can't stop anywhere I go
I think about it everyday and night I can't let go
Man, I'm never the same
We were shot gun lovers, I'm a shot gun running away

So come a little closer
There was something I can tell ya
It was such a rollercoaster
And a killer queen you are

Rollercoaster, I don't say no
Rollercoaster, when you don't say no
And it's such a rollercoaster
Some killer queen you are

We took the bones out from the road
Those endless nights that we traveled we stole
You let your clothes fall to the floor
And lit a fire while I waited for more

Now I'm running and I won't stop I don't wanna go
I think about it everyday and night I can't let go
And hey, I'm never the same
It's a hundred miles an hour on a dirt road running away

So come a little closer
There was something I can tell ya
It was such a rollercoaster
And a killer queen you are

Rollercoaster, I don't say no
Rollercoaster, when you don't say no
And it's such a rollercoaster
Some killer queen you are

Come a little closer
Why don't you come a little closer?
Why don't you come a little closer?

There was something I can tell ya
It was such a rollercoaster
And a killer queen you are

Rollercoaster, I don't say no
Rollercoaster, when you don't say no
And it's such a rollercoaster
Some killer queen you are

Rollercoaster, I don't say no
Rollercoaster, when you don't say no

And it's such a rollercoaster
Some killer queen you are

Overall Meaning

The song "Rollercoaster" by Bleachers is an upbeat, fast-paced pop song that takes listeners on a ride through the memories of a past love. The opening lyrics set the scene on a summer day where the singer encounters a seemingly wild and adventurous girl who becomes his 'killer queen.' As he recollects how things turned out, he admits that he never expected the relationship to go that far or end the way it did. The lyrics, "We were shotgun lovers, I'm a shotgun running away" implies that while the love affair between the two was intense, he eventually ran away from it all.

The chorus repeats the line, "it's such a rollercoaster," which aptly describes the emotional highs and lows of their relationship. The girl is referred to as a 'killer queen,' which could signify that she was like a force of nature or an adrenaline rush. The lyrics also hint at the sexual exploration and spontaneity of the relationship, as they "took the bones out from the road" and had passionate, fiery encounters.

The bridge urges the girl to "come a little closer," adding that there's something he has to tell her. He then reiterates that their relationship was a rollercoaster, and she's a killer queen. The chorus is repeated twice more before the song ends.

Absolutely

Yeah I agree. I’ve been listening to them lately and then I realize that a lot of the stuff I’ve been the most drawn to that Taylor Swift has come out with, and I am definitely a Taylor Swift fan anyway, but I realize that production wise I really adore the stuff that he has worked on with her so I went and checked out their band and realize that they sound like The Cure from the 80s and I love them.

sweet and perfect -- Bleachers is the best album to me this year, rivaling Arcade Fire. I love the bowie and punk throwback with edm electro vibe, no one thinks to want to do it these days, great music. In 2006-08ish, I played in a Nirvana-esque-combo live band and predicted that this sound would come about and become important post-hip hop/pop/rock to synthesize the most important sounds of our generation. Jack's production career already proves it. Thank you Bleachers. The industrial electro pop sound should have come from no where other than New Jersey, like how Bruce Springfield upped the world with meaning and song, again, thank you Bleachers.
