Stain
Bled Tape Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Streets Slip n' slide
Shaking Mono Lights
Killed me with a thought
On a neon Sign

I'll hurt you bad
I'll hurt you bad
I'll hurt you bad
I'll hurt you bad

I'll hurt you bad
With a diamond chain
I'll hurt you bad
I'll make it stick
I'll hurt you bad
I'll make you sick

Bled Tapes all right
Covers thighs just fine
Drinking black n' whites
Just to make things shine

I'll hurt you bad
I'll hurt you bad
I'll hurt you bad
I'll hurt you bad

I'll hurt you bad
With a diamond chain
I'll hurt you bad
I'll make it stick

I'll hurt you bad
I'll make you sick

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bled Tapes' song Stain revolve around the theme of pain and hurt caused by a person who appears to be in love, but is also destructive. The opening lines of "Streets Slip n' slide/Shaking Mono Lights/Killed me with a thought/On a neon Sign" resonate with the imagery of a chaotic and surreal landscape. This teetering environment is meant to highlight the unstable nature of the relationship. The verse may also be suggesting that the singer is suffering from a mental breakdown, triggered by a traumatic experience. The strong visual language of the verse allows the listener to engage with the song's mood and texture, which are disorienting, intense, and ominous.

The chorus of "I'll hurt you bad/With a diamond chain/I'll hurt you bad/I'll make it stick/I'll hurt you bad/I'll make you sick" is unrepentant and menacing, yet also seeking comfort in a love that is tainted. The repeated use of the phrase "I'll hurt you bad" is indicative of the singer's lack of control over emotions, love, and violence. The song's lyrics imply that the singer is willing to use material luxuries like diamonds to express their love and subsequently use the same materialistic symbol to signify destruction. The sequence of words used in the verses juxtaposes the tone and creates a harsh contrast that mirrors the singer's relationship with their partner. Musically, the beat of the song is slow and foreboding, which complements the powerful imagery and tone.

Another trick is to score the wood with the xacto knife when cutting the tape into the desired design. Capillary action will draw stain at the edges into the channel created by scoring resulting in clear, crisp separation.

I thought this video was going to show that exact technique! But it did not.

Thank YOU SO MUCH!! I'm making a portable chess set for my sister and I was trying to find a way to stain the board cleanly rather than paint it. This is incredibly helpful!!
