I Won't Go To Hollywood
Bleu Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mom helped pack the hatchback up
Dad was still asleep
Loaded down with all this stuff
I don't know if I can leave

Daddy told me not to let them
Sell me out, sell me in
Color me misunderstood
But I won't go Hollywood

No one here is where I'm from
Or where I wanna be
We all get drunk on too much sun
And don't know who to be

Don't ya worry I won't let them
Sell me out, sell me in
Color me misunderstood
But I won't go Hollywood

Don't ya worry I just let them
Sell me out, sell me in

Color me misunderstood
But I won't go Hollywood

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Bleu's song "I Won't Go To Hollywood" speak to an individual's inner turmoil as they leave their hometown, and ponder whether or not to chase their dreams in Hollywood. As the person packs up the car to leave, they feel hesitant to go through with it, unsure if they're making the right decision. Their father advises them not to let others exploit them, and to remain true to themselves.

The song touches on the struggles of identity and feeling out of place. The singer feels disconnected from their hometown and doesn't see themselves fitting in with the Hollywood crowd. They refuse to let anyone change them or sell them out, and vow to remain true to themselves despite the pressures of the entertainment industry. The repeated line "color me misunderstood" implies that the singer feels like an outsider, but they won't compromise their values just to fit in.

Overall, "I Won't Go To Hollywood" is about staying true to oneself despite the challenges and pressures of pursuing one's dreams. It expresses the complexities of leaving home and chasing after what you want, but also serves as a reminder to not compromise who you are in the process.

I can already imagine myself driving an S2000 in that track in Moscow with the big jump. PRG2 will always be one of my favorite video games.

I'm always looking for new artists to get excited about. When I used to up my Daughter up at school we'd listen to NPR-amazing what you can learn stuck in late aftrnoon traffic in the beltway around Columbus, OH. Bleu was one such artist. Hayes Carl(sp) is another, but they are exceptions. Most new music is devoid of musicality, ideas, inspiration or even the most rudamentary concepts of melody and harmonic development.

Yeah, that's where I first heard it too. PGR2. So much variety of music in that game.

@Dollar Records With Josh what's wrong with finding songs from video games?

lefteris el

Searching for music isn't a hobby of mine but playing videogames is. Finding good music in video games is just an extra.

TurboV6Firebird

@Josh Done and how do you seek out new music? by going down to the record store and sampling all the vinyls? Or do you go down to the library and check out random cassette tapes?

Dollar Records With Josh

Nope- I know it because I constantly seek out good music. It's kind of sad if you only discover new music through fucking video games. Millennials. An awesome generation of human beings.
