Blind Melon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm entering a frame bombarded by indecision
Where a man like me can easily let the day get out of control
Down this far in the quarter
I'm pushed hard upon the border
But, I'd rather be caught 'round now instead of oh, say, 'round the month of June
But if I can leave with a little bit of explanation
Then anywhere in the world I choose to go
I'll have it made.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Blind Melon's song Hello Goodbye / Galaxie talk about the struggle of the singer in making decisions. The opening lyrics, "I'm entering a frame bombarded by indecision," shows that the singer is in a state of confusion and hesitancy. This frame of mind can quickly spiral out of control and lead to bad decisions. The singer talks about being in the quarter, where he is at the edge and can easily be pushed over the border. He acknowledges that being caught now is better than being caught later in life.

However, the singer expresses a desire to leave with a little bit of explanation. This shows how important communication is in making choices. If he can understand his situation better, he can make a more informed decision. He hopes that with a proper explanation, he can go anywhere in the world he chooses and have it made. The lyrics hint at the idea that sometimes, the act of making a decision is what leads to success, rather than the success itself.

working at a small Vietnamese restaurant in Louisiana, a guy came in and told me he had $7 to buy something to eat and asked if he could afford anything to eat there and I said yes, and he told me that I reminded him of the bee girl in this video and it made my whole day. when I brought him the food I could tell he hadn’t had hot food in quite some time. I played this song for him over the speaker and it made him so happy. He ended up telling me he was chronically homeless after serving in the military and that this song reminded him of better times. I hope you’re doing okay man, wherever you are. I wish you many warm bowls of Pho and plenty more jam sessions
