The lyrics of Blink 182's song "Wendy Clear" tap into the pain and frustration someone feels when they want someone they can't have. The first verse sees the singer seeking escape with his lover, wanting to forget their worries for a while. But we quickly get a sense that things are not good between them. It's something that goes deeper than just their relationship, however. In the chorus, the singer sings about how he would risk everything to get what he wants, even if it's foolhardy. He can't help wanting it, even though he knows he shouldn't.
The second verse is where we get a sense that their relationship is a little more complicated. The "three-date theory" suggests that the singer is keeping his options open, even though he's still hung up on Wendy. The line "everyone is getting left out in the cold" suggests that this kind of approach isn't just unwise, it's also hurtful. The song finishes with the singer accepting that things won't work out with Wendy and that he needs to move on, but it's clear that he's still struggling with his feelings.

Still remember the day I had this song in my head. Had to do a presentation in 11th grade English class about Thomas Edison's lightbulb. Did the presentation and floated on rainbows the rest of the day with this song in my head big time. Wow that was over 10 years ago now. . . one of Blink's best

In 10th grade I had to do a presentation about the sewing machine but my voice was cracking so bad and I didn't want to speak. But I talked to my teacher after class and he knew I was a good student so he gave me a B.

Love this song wrote my final essay on it a year ago. This song helped me get over the girls that I wanted to be with but couldn't cause of various reasons (wasn't confident enough, she had a bf, I worked with her,etc.) That what this song is about but its also about having closure and moving on. Its kind of a silver lining type song, like the "next one" is gonna be even better.
