Blonde Redhead has gradually increased in popularity in the underground music scene. Their early music has been described as emulative of Sonic Youth, but their more recent releases have begun to stray from this generalization. Kazu Makino is noted for her high, eerie voice, which hovers over melodic guitar riffs and rhythmic drum beats.
The large span of time between Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons and Misery is a Butterfly is attributed to Makino's recovery time after being trampled by a horse. Much of Misery Is A Butterfly's imagery and illustration is equestrian or reflective of the accident. In the liner notes, Makino thanks her doctors "and her friends who fed her and cheered her up when she couldn't do much on her own."
The band's 7th album is called "23" and was released in April 2007.
Their 8th album, "Penny Sparkle" was released in September 14, 2010.

Mother
Blonde Redhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're wrong if you think it was a loan.
I'm on to you.
You're fading out.
You wrong if you think I'm alone.
I will never fall.
The lyrics of the song "Mother" by Blonde Redhead appear to be about a relationship between two people where one person feels like they have been taken advantage of by the other. The first line, "You pay for that," suggests that something has been done wrong and the person who has done wrong will face consequences. The next line, "You're wrong if you think it was a loan," implies that the person who did wrong could have thought they were borrowing something, but it was really something else. The lines "I'm on to you" and "You're fading out" suggest that the singer has realized what is going on and the other person is losing their power or influence over the situation. The line "You're wrong if you think I'm alone" shows that the singer has support or is not afraid to stand up for themselves.
The final line of the song, "I will never fall," seems to be a declaration of strength and resilience. The singer is asserting that no matter what happens, they will not be defeated or broken. The song's theme of standing up for oneself and refusing to be taken advantage of is one that is relatable to many people, and the lyrics paint a vivid picture of standing up for oneself in the face of adversity.
