D-Day
Blondie湥 Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm ready to invade
Make a mess of
What's left of your limited privacy
Yeah, now it's D-Day
Not like those other days
Make a mess-up, you're a dress-up
Oh yeah, it's D-Day
This ain't no dot-com
But this is a dot-come-on
Come on and let us read
You're gonna love it, batter up, buttercup
Make a mess of your last love
Transfer your love to me
Make a mess of your last love
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Transfer your love to me
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Make a mess of your last love
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Transfer your love to me
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Hey, hey, it's D-Day
Gonna be my pillow doll
I wanna take you, wanna shake you
Trade in your liberty
Oh oh, it's D-Day
You want some more debris
I'm gonna take you, I'm gonna shake you
Take you to bed with me
Make a mess of your last love
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Transfer your love to me
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Make a mess of your last love
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
Transfer your love to me
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
(Debbie devil, don't you dare)
I wanna show you what's up doc
(Day of the Deb, day of the Deb)
I wanna blow your tick tick tock

The lyrics to Blondie's song D-Day are an interesting mix of power, seduction, and intrigue. The song appears to be about a woman who is ready to invade her lover's privacy and make a mess of what's left of it. In the chorus, she declares that it's D-Day - the day of reckoning when she's ready to take what she wants. She urges her lover to transfer their love to her and to make a mess of their last love.
Throughout the song, the woman takes on the persona of a devilish seductress, using her beauty and powers of persuasion to get what she wants. She taunts her lover, telling them that she's going to take them to bed with her and trade in their liberty for her own desires. The lyrics are filled with sexual innuendo and suggest that the woman is not shy when it comes to pursuing what she wants.
Overall, the lyrics to D-Day paint a picture of a powerful, assertive woman who is not afraid to take control of a situation, even if it means making a mess of someone else's life. The seductress in the song is a complex character, one who is both alluring and dangerous, and someone who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

As an ex serviceman who has seen combat, I agree, if the reality of combat is not shown then future generations will never know how utterly frightening and yes I mean FRIGHTINING warfare is, whether you win or whether you loose, it will fcuk you up for life, one way or another.
