Falling Down
Blood & Tears Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Is this world spinning round
Has this ship run aground
What's that shape
What's that sound
That's just me falling down

Some of us are free
Some are bound
Some will swim
Some will drown
Some of us are saints
Some are clowns
Just like me they're falling down

Well I lied to the nation
While my reputation ran dry
From my lungs to my liver
I clung to the river bank's side
Yeah well I'm back in the water
Doing what I ought to
Trying to lead an ordinary life

Is this world spinning round
Has this ship run aground
What's that shape
What's that sound
That's just me falling down

Some of us are green
Some are brown
Some are lost
Some are found
Sight unseen baby
Sound on sound
Pray for me I'm falling down

I was lost in the jungle
Crossed over enemy lines
Well I got me a red nose
By sleeping under hedgerows at night
Yeah well I tried levitation
Flying in formation
Heaven knows the weight of this crime

Is this
Is this world spinning round
Has this ship run aground
What's that shape
What's that sound
That's just me falling down

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Blood & Tear's song "Falling Down" present a poignant reflection on the human condition, exploring themes of vulnerability, self-examination and redemption. The opening verse seems to suggest a feeling of existential confusion and disorientation, as the singer wonders if the world is spinning out of control, and if they themselves are on the verge of collapsing. The metaphor of a ship running aground emphasizes the sense of being lost and helpless, while the repeated line "that's just me falling down" suggests a resigned acceptance of their own vulnerability and weakness.

The second verse delves further into the singer's personal struggles, as they admit to having lied and damaged their reputation, and having lived a life that has taken a toll on their physical and emotional health. However, there is also a glimmer of hope as they talk about trying to lead an ordinary life, suggesting a desire for change and growth.

The chorus contains a number of contrasting images and ideas, highlighting the diversity of human experience and the fact that we all face our own challenges and difficulties, but also emphasizing the shared nature of our struggles. The line "pray for me I'm falling down" is a plea for support and solidarity, underscoring the importance of empathy and compassion in the face of adversity.

Overall, the song presents a powerful message of hope and resilience in the face of adversity, emphasizing the human capacity for change and growth, even when the odds seem stacked against us.

"Tears falling down at the party
saddest Little baby in the room"

reminded me of when I had a party at my school when I was in fifth grade. I thought nothing would go wrong since I was happy that it was my birthday, I went outside the classroom to get some fresh air.

But my happiness didn't last long when I came back to the classroom and overheard my classmate's talking shit about me, even my friends were joining in the conversation.

(I didn't really know how to bond and make friends with my other classmates, since I couldn't socialise that much. so that's probably why they were talking behind my back)

I went inside the classroom, took my bag, and left as quickly as I can. I asked the teacher for permission if I could leave and she let me since it was already afternoon and the end of our class

I left the school and went back home crying ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™
