On a 70's Music Spree this evening, started by searching up the Georgia Songs (The Night the Lights Went Out & Midnight Train : 2 different artists, both great songs) then the playlist popped up some Cool older Chicago songs (Getting Stronger Everyday & Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is) those reminded me of another great 70's band that incorporated a Horn section into their musical sound - Blood, Sweat & Tears.
So here I am!
By the way 70's music is the BEST! - It does help that in was born in 1970, so those were the 1st songs I ever heard. I was lucky, my parent always had "classic rock" type of music playing, in the car on AM radio, and at home it was records on the Old-School Turntable stereo.
So it definitely made an impression on me, and the nostalgia I cannot put into words...
I do love all types of music, so I have tried it all out, and still listen to several different genres daily.
That being said, once the 80's came w/MTV and all the commercialism, Popular Music has never been the same.
Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of 80's Music, 90's & even current bands. For example Bon Iver gives me the 70's music type of feeling; in other words, I can feel Soul in the music.
But its like looking for a needle in a haystack to find Bands that REALLY put 100% of their Being into their music, and I bet most the time its because they aren't ALLOWED to by the Industry itself.
That's why I think 70's (and some mid-late 60's) music is the best, because you have a high % chance of listening to Real Music/Art that someone(s) put their SOUL into....and you can tell, you will know it when you hear/feel it in the right songs! PEACE TO ALL !!

I saw them play back when I was in high school (early 70's). My Mom and Dad took me to one of those old-school "supper clubs," the Holiday House in Monroeville, Pa., for my birthday. (Sadly, went defunct years ago...the Holiday House, not me). They put on such an awesome show.

David Clayton Thomas, was a great fucking voice! Surrounded by the best musicians of the time. The group was called Pop, but really they were a whole orchestra. Lew Soloff has been one of the best trumpeter of ever. Then Bobby Colomby, the drummer, and all the other exceptionla guys...

There was one of those "Ten most influential" themes of albums that was circulating on FB and I was about 14 when this album came out.

While there was a lot of influential music in the day, this one had it all; Rock, Soul, Blues, Gospel, and behind it all was David Clayton Thomas.

When I exited the service in 1968 I went to work for Columbia Records, at first at their initial tape plant located in an rented grocery store, then at their new tape plant on Fruidridge Ave in Terre Haute. I first worked as a box boy, bringing supplies to the mostly women working to make the track and later cassette tapes. Since I had a Associates in Electronics attained before entering the service, they made me a technician on the high speed tape reproduction systems. I got to know the marketing people, we all worked together in the small site. The marketing guy really disliked this album and I argued long and hard with him about the greatness of the effort and the result. Eventually the marketing guy with whom I argued wanted to hire me, but by then I was committed to traveling on to California, so turned him down. That was a wonderful period in my life, making bundles of money (for then) and working among hundreds of women who did the work, especially the QC ladies for whom I had to make the machines do their excellent work.

Rajiv Chemburkar I don't know. Friends came out in 1994, and was already a popular show, and Freaks and Geeks came out in 1999. I personally think Friends is overrated, and way too liked by many people, and they don't even know that an amazingly realistic, and relatable show like this even exists. So, Idk about taken over, but I sure already do think that this show is way better than Friends.
