"" Formed in 1992 and comprised of members Scott Angelacos (vocals), Matt Easley (guitar), Art Legre (bass), and John Stewart Jr. (drums), Bloodlet specializes in a form of hardcore that's even more angst ridden and brutal than most of their counterparts. Issuing several singles straight away, Bloodlet signed on with the renowned hardcore label Victory not long after their formation, resulting in a trio of releases during the mid to late ‘90s -- 1995's Eclectic (a compilation of their aforementioned early singles), 1996's Entheogen, and 1998's Seraphim Fall, before splitting up. Little was heard from Bloodlet's former members, as most dispersed to other locales. But during their retirement, several up and coming hardcore groups began name checking Bloodlet as an important influence (especially Eighteen Visions, among others), and by late 2001, Bloodlet had reunited and was rehearsing once more. Hooking up with renowned indie producer Steve Albini, Bloodlet issued their fourth release overall in 2002, the hard hitting Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees -- picking up exactly where they'd left off several years earlier.

I Have Such a Hard Time Making New Friends
Bloodlet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
3 days maybe 4
And he was looking at me funny like he had seen me before
I threw my best right hand cross across his left hand cheek
And a tragedy is written in the bathroom sink
Give me back my gun
Its intent is not pure
He's got it bad bleeding tears upon the kitchen floor
I saw a crack in your halo today
Such big words for a tiny little man
He said, "In my mind I am the hero today."
I take 1 in the morning and 2 at 3
Another before supper and 5 to sleep
Just a chemical reaction in my head
It all turns upside down in my head
I must have blacked out
I doubled up on my meds
You see I have such a hard time making new friends
The lyrics of Bloodlet's song "I Have Such a Hard Time Making New Friends" depicts a dark and disturbing tale of a person who is struggling with mental illness and addiction. The singer seems to be experiencing some sort of disconnectedness and detachment from reality, as they describe feeling sick and being looked at funny like they have been seen before. The violence of the situation is evident in the first verse, where the singer throws a punch at someone, leading to a tragedy that is hinted at with the line "written in the bathroom sink."
As the song continues, the singer's desperate and unstable state becomes more apparent. They mention taking several pills throughout the day, indicating a dependence on medication or potentially self-medicating. They describe their mental state as "upside down" and "blacking out." The line "Give me back my gun, its intent is not pure" suggests suicidal ideation or a desire to cause harm to themselves or others.
The chorus of the song serves as a haunting reminder of the singer's struggle to connect with others. The line "I have such a hard time making new friends" highlights the loneliness and isolation that can come with mental illness and addiction. The singer seems to be relying on medication and substances to cope with these feelings instead of seeking help or support from others.
Overall, the lyrics of "I Have Such a Hard Time Making New Friends" portray a bleak and disturbing picture of someone struggling with mental illness and addiction. The singer's isolation and detachment from reality are depicted vividly through their desperate and violent actions.
