The opening line of "Go On and Cry" by Bloodstone is an emotional statement that reveals the singer's deep love and bond with their mother. The phrase "go on and cry" is not an instruction to someone else, but rather an acknowledgement that it's okay to express emotions and feel sorrow. The singer seems to be advocating for the importance of experiencing and processing pain, using their own relationship with their mother as an example of how genuine love and care can provide comfort and healing during difficult times.
As the song continues, the lyrics delve deeper into memories and emotions associated with the mother figure. Lines like "when I had no one to turn to, she was always there" and "no one can take her place" emphasize the singer's gratitude and reverence for their mother. The idea of crying is revisited in the second verse, where the singer acknowledges that "tears won't bring her back," but continues to encourage the listener to "go on and cry" as a way of honoring the memory and legacy of their loved one.
Overall, "Go On and Cry" is a poignant tribute to the special bond between a mother and child. The lyrics offer comfort and validation to anyone who has experienced loss or grief, reminding listeners that it's okay to feel and express a wide range of emotions, and that love can endure even in the face of tragedy.
