Bloody Sunday was founded in May of 2003, by John and Greg. They wanted to start a fast hardcore band in the vein of Strife, No Innocent Victim, Buried Alive, and all the hardcore bands that they had grown up on. After talking for a couple weeks, they decided the time was right. John brought with him Julian from his other band, and Greg brought Chris with him from his other band. After a short stint and 3 shows with their first singer, he left the band and Keith was brought in. The goal of Bloody Sunday is now and always has been to spread the message of
Christ, and to combine the two single biggest influences in our collective lives Christ and Hardcore. In the ten months that Bloody Sunday has been a band so many things have happened, shortly after recording a demo they signed with the new off shoot label Strike First
records and released "They Attack At Dawn" which has been blowing up accross the nation. They have shared the stage with some of todays best hardcore and metal bands including Bane, The Promise, Comeback Kid, The Killer, xDisciplex AD, Integrity, Six Feet Under, Blacklisted, The Distance, xCast Asidex, Modern Life is War, Death Before Dishonor, Symphony in Peril, Holding On, Nothing Personal, Dead Serious, Murder Weapon, Nourish the Flame, On Broken Wings, Sinai Beach, The Deal, Shockwave and Bound By Honor. They have also done their first 6 week coast to coast tour which included playing both of xDisciplex AD's last shows and the legendary Facedown Fest to a sold out crowd in Pomona, California. Bloody Sunday will be hitting the entire country numerous times this year, they will be playing Chaos Fest, Sonshine Fest, Arlington Heist, and Cornerstone Festival and now after teaming up with Facedown Records,
Bloody Sunday will definitely be a name you continue to hear in the hardcore scene.

Bloody Sunday Lyrics

from all the nodding heads and how we sing along
but there are still the ones that got the scene all wrong
yeah you dance real hard and we all know your names
for those that come and go
I will still remain
One hand outstretched waiting for return
we're so diverse so much more to learn
we'll make this work lets take a stand
this scene's diseased you're living proof
you act as if you're a one man crew
you've paid your dues
we need your help
this all begins and ends with you
all those things you do
what's been done to you
my hands are rinsed clean
you don't own this scene
why do you lean
stand on your own
just be yourself and don't let anyone tell you how to grow
you can't fake through this and pretend to love a God that you don't know
we can't make this work if you're standing by yourself all alone
this is not the place to make rules for a scene that you don't own.
The lyrics to "Curse" by Bloody Sunday expresses the frustration and disappointment of the band towards the members of the music scene who have misunderstood the essence of the community they are trying to build. The opening lines "I thought that we were one, from all the nodding heads and how we sing along" suggest that the band believed that everyone in the scene shared the same vision and were united in that purpose. However, the following line "but there are still the ones that got the scene all wrong" indicates that some individuals have missed the point and are just pretending to be part of the community.
The lyrics go on to call out these individuals who are only in it for the fame and recognition; "yeah you dance real hard and we all know your names." The band makes it clear that they are not going anywhere, but rather "will still remain" and wait for like-minded individuals to join the community. There is a plea for unity, "One hand outstretched waiting for return, we're so diverse so much more to learn," and an acknowledgment that this community is more than just a place to dance.
The final lines of the song speak directly to those individuals who are not genuine in their participation, "this is not the place to make rules for a scene that you don't own." The band is urging them to be true to themselves and not "fake through this and pretend to love a God that you don't know." The lyrics to "Curse" by Bloody Sunday are a call to action for everyone involved in the music scene to hold themselves to a higher standard and to be true to the community they are part of.
