They were on the BBC's Sound Of new music list for 2016 where they finished in fourth place. It was commented by the band and several other people that they were one of only two guitar bands on the list, alongside Rat Boy. Blossoms' self-titled debut album was one of the twelve albums nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2017.
2. Blossoms are a Finnish pop/funk band. They have to date released a self-titled EP in 2004, and two albums: 2006's self-titled debut and 2015's El Ritmo Que Obsesiona IV.
3. Blossoms is the alias of Melbourne electronic artist, Justin Cantrell.
He has just self-released his debut EP, meeting places.
Featuring 4 tracks, including re-takes on previously released singles, ‘Eyes On You’ and ‘Come Together’, the EP encompasses the progression and maturing nature of Cantrell as an artist as well as an ever evolving soundscape that lends itself to elements of chillwave, beats, ambient, dreampop, lo-fi and plenty more.
With an emphasis on live instrumentation, as well as distorted vocals, we feel that Blossoms definitely provides something special within a booming scene, whilst also maintaining an air of accessibility for punters from all circles. meeting places takes all these elements and brings them together to create a world of woozy layered synths and textured samples – before wrapping them up with an overall air of honesty in each recording.

Has got me going
When I'm feeling hung-up
And strung up tight
When I just feel like crying
'Cause nothing's satisfying
I know what I gotta get to set me right
That'll pick me up before I count to ten
Just a little bit of your good, good lovin'
Makes this big bad world look good again
We all have those days
When we're downhearted
And just the job of living
Is hard to do
But when his happens to me
And I get kind of gloomy
I know what is guaranteed to see me through
All I need is your good, good lovin' babe
That'll pick me up before I count to ten
Just a little bit of your good, good lovin'
Makes this big bad world look good again
Good, good lovin'
Good, good lovin'
Makes this big bad world look good again
All I need is your good, good lovin' babe
That'll pick me up before I count to ten
Just a little bit of your good, good lovin'
Makes this big bad world look good again
The verses of this Blossoms song, Good Good Lovin, seem to find the singer at a loss for words to describe the intensity of their feelings towards their lover. The repetition of "It's I don't know, It's what you're called, It's words escape me, Oh, it's hang it all" suggests frustration, as if no matter what words the singer uses, they can't quite express the depth of their emotions. The chorus, however, is where the singer finds some clarity - their lover's kiss is "the kiss that defies every dictionary," so powerful that words fail to capture its essence. The repetition of "It's knock on wood, It's do it again, It's the heck with it anyhow" suggests that the singer is fully taken with this love, not wanting to analyze it or consider any consequences, but simply reveling in the pure joy and pleasure of it.
Overall, the lyrics of Good Good Lovin seem to convey that the intensity of true love cannot be put neatly into words, that it defies definition and explanation. Despite the confusion and frustration of the verses, the chorus shows that this doesn't diminish the power of the singer's feelings, and in fact, might make them even more special.

Hello, hello
You put love in my hand
I know, I know it's made of lead
Hello, hello
Science came, a kingdom reigned
Below, below my Charlemagne
And the river always flows, so if you go I will know
By the way, my Charlemagne
Hello, hello
Mars, tried, hide, cried, died
Inside the snow in the winter
Hello, hello
The doctors knew, prescribe me you
Below, below the amber sky
And the river always flows, so if you go I will know
By the way, my Charlemagne
And the river always flows tears of gold
Left me cold do you feel the same my Charlemagne?
My Charlemagne, my Charlemagne
My Charlemagne, my Charlemagne
Don't go
If only I could show you
Don't go
If only I could show you
Don't go
If only I could show you
Don't go
If only I could show you
And the river always flows
So if you go, I will know
By the way, my Charlemagne
And the river always flows tears of gold
Left me cold do you feel the same my Charlemagne?
