They were on the BBC's Sound Of new music list for 2016 where they finished in fourth place. It was commented by the band and several other people that they were one of only two guitar bands on the list, alongside Rat Boy. Blossoms' self-titled debut album was one of the twelve albums nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2017.
2. Blossoms are a Finnish pop/funk band. They have to date released a self-titled EP in 2004, and two albums: 2006's self-titled debut and 2015's El Ritmo Que Obsesiona IV.
3. Blossoms is the alias of Melbourne electronic artist, Justin Cantrell.
He has just self-released his debut EP, meeting places.
Featuring 4 tracks, including re-takes on previously released singles, āEyes On Youā and āCome Togetherā, the EP encompasses the progression and maturing nature of Cantrell as an artist as well as an ever evolving soundscape that lends itself to elements of chillwave, beats, ambient, dreampop, lo-fi and plenty more.
With an emphasis on live instrumentation, as well as distorted vocals, we feel that Blossoms definitely provides something special within a booming scene, whilst also maintaining an air of accessibility for punters from all circles. meeting places takes all these elements and brings them together to create a world of woozy layered synths and textured samples ā before wrapping them up with an overall air of honesty in each recording.
There's a Reason Why
Blossoms Lyrics

Since you've been gone
Have I been on
Your mind?
'Cause I know I was for a while
Late last night
I saw you out
Turned to stone
'Cause there's still something only we see
Don't talk
I'd have run to kiss your mouth
Is it me or
Just a dream that never dies?
There's a reason why
I never returned your calls
I wish I could forget it all
But I never returned your calls
'Cause I'd fall in again
We're leaving here
We're on the run
The time has come
I don't hear no alarms
Fall asleep in my arms
A lover's game
Is never fair
But I still care
And I know you do too
'Cause there's a part of me that's you
Don't talk
I'd have run to kiss your mouth
Is it me or
Just a dream that never dies?
There's a reason why
I never returned your calls
I wish I could forget it all
But I never returned your calls
'Cause I'd fall in again
I still find parts of you
In the corners of my bedroom
Someday comes too soon
The radio plays our favourite tune again
There's a reason why
I never returned your calls
I wish I could forget it all
But I never returned your calls
'Cause I'd fall in again
The song "Thereās a Reason Why" by Blossoms is a ballad about the aftermath of a failed relationship. The lyrics express the singer's curiosity about whether they are still on their ex-partner's mind after they have left, even though they still have strong feelings for them. The line, "I still find parts of you in the corners of my bedroom," suggests that the singer is struggling to let go of the memories they shared with their lover in that space.
The chorus, "Thereās a reason why I never returned your calls. I wish I could forget it all, but Iād fall in again", is the emotional center of the song. The singer acknowledges that even though they wish to forget the relationship and everything that came with it, they would still fall for their ex if they returned. The lyrics do not give a reason for the singerās decision not to return calls, but the unreturned calls hint at a deeper emotional conflict between the two.
The bridge of the song suggests that the singer and their ex are running away together, with the line "We're leaving here. We're on the run" and that they still care about each other despite the relationship's failures, with the line "A lover's game is never fair, but I still care, and I know you do too."
