Look Up
Blue Dahlia Lyrics

energy to fight the good fight
Kiss the Kate sweetly good-bye
She's a static force of life
Have you seen her…
Kiss the Kate sweetly good-bye
An explosive force of now
She fights to stay alive
Instinct offers no resistance
A fallen star
Has time to spare
For space is infinite
but who really cares
It blinks and shudders
As it falls past our hands
but we're all too busy spinning round
to honor the dead
Just look up!
The lyrics in Blue Dahlia's song "Look Up" describe the idea of embracing changes and taking risks by saying goodbye to old ways of life. "Kiss the Kate sweetly good-bye" is a metaphor for leaving behind something or someone familiar that may hinder personal growth. Kate might represent comfort or routine, and the singer urges the listener to fight for a better future. The phrase "static force of life" suggests that staying in one place can prevent progress, while being an "explosive force of now" means being present and taking action. The line "Instinct offers no resistance" reinforces the idea that it is natural to resist change but necessary for one's development.
The chorus, "A fallen star/Has time to spare/For space is infinite/But who really cares/It blinks and shudders/As it falls past our hands/But we're all too busy spinning round/To honor the dead/Just look up!" reflects on human mortality and how often the living forget to appreciate the temporary nature of life. The metaphor of a fallen star suggests that life can be fleeting, and it is important to take notice of it before it fades away. The last line, "Just look up!" is a call to action, encouraging the listener to pause and appreciate the beauty and brevity of life.
