Blue Foundation Lyrics

Heading for adventure
Ruinous and young
We fled across the broken land
Wild, deserted places
And it went out of hand
Stay with me
Someone here could be an enemy
Watch your back
Don't you see
One of us could be the enemy
We seized a house upon a hill
Damp and tainted ceilings
And broken windowsills
Seagulls hanging from the trees
Black and static water
Red and sticky leaves
Watch your back
Stay with me
Someone here could be an enemy
Stay with me
Don't you see
One of us could be the enemy
The lyrics of "Enemy" by Blue Foundation convey a story of two lovers who are running away from their past and seeking adventure. However, their journey becomes tainted with danger and fear, as they discover that there may be an enemy among them. The song explores themes of mistrust, paranoia, and the fragility of relationships.
The first part of the lyrics depict the lovers' quest for adventure, describing them as young and reckless, running across deserted and wild lands. However, the situation starts to unravel as they settle down in a house that is damp and tainted, which suggests that their love story may be struggling as well. This is reinforced by the imagery of seagulls hanging from the trees, black and static water, and red and sticky leaves, which paints a picture of a desolate environment.
The chorus of the song introduces the idea that one of them could be the enemy, which brings a sense of paranoia and mistrust into the equation. The lyrics urge them to watch their backs and stay with each other, emphasizing the fragility of their relationship and the need to preserve it.
Overall, "Enemy" is a poetic and melancholic song that depicts the fragility of relationships and the fear of betrayal. It is a cautionary tale that urges us to be mindful of our surroundings and the people we let into our lives.
