1. Blue Magic, an American R&B vocal quintet whose members were Theodore Mills, Vernon Sawyer, Wendell Sawyer, Keith Beaton, and Richard Pratt, was formed in Philadelphia and signed to Atlantic Records in 1973. They hit the Top 40 of the R&B singles chart with their first three 45s before breaking through and crossing over with "Sideshow," released in April 1974, which went gold, topped the R&B charts, and became a Top Ten pop hit. "Three Ring Circus," their next single, made the R&B Top Ten and the pop Top 40. Blue Magic had two more R&B chart singles in 1975 and four in 1976 before suffering a career slump, but they still managed to influence many artists, such as The Mighty Majors ('You can Never go Back'), which opened a show for them once. Still, they returned with R&B chart singles in 1981 and 1983 and made a comeback album, From Out of the Blue, in 1989.

The Loneliest House on the Block
Blue Magic Lyrics

such a love was hard to find
i introduced you to a friend
then our love came to an end
i'm left in a place that we call love
folks know that i'm here all alone in.
the loneliest house on the block
where the windows are closed and the doors are always locked
im on the inside looking out
at a world that full of doubt
life used to mean so much to me,
now youve gone and set me free
i watch the street from end to end
waiting for the day to let you in to...
wish that you could see me waiting
cant you see my heart is breaking...

Blue Magic's song The Loneliest House on the Block tells the story of a man who is left alone after a breakup with his lover. The first stanza of the song suggests that the singer is finding it difficult to move on from the past as he reminisces about the good times they shared when they were together. However, things took a turn for the worse when the singer introduced his lover to a friend, which eventually led to the end of their relationship.
The second stanza paints a picture of a lonely man stuck in a house where he feels trapped and isolated from the world. The line "the loneliest house on the block, where the windows are closed and the doors are always locked" conveys the sense that the singer is hiding from the outside world as he tries to come to terms with the end of his relationship. He watches the world go by from inside his lonely house, longing for his lover to return and bring him out of his state of despair.
The song's chorus is a desperate cry for help as the singer longs for his lover to see him waiting and realize the pain that he is going through. The song's poignant lyrics are backed by a haunting melody that perfectly captures the mood of a man who is lost in the depths of his own loneliness.

No date tonight, or no date for the weekend. Oh, No !
Its only Love, Its only love you seeking .
Still I sit too shy to tell her my feelings. Missing every chance to show her a ball.
Wishing other guys would leave her alone.
Until I can call, I Sit Alone, Again, while she goes out with him.
She holds me tight and shows me good vibration.
And she feels so real, until I awaken .
Still I sit too shy to tell her my feelings. Missing every chance to show her a ball.
Wishing other guys would leave her alone.
Until I can call, I Sit Alone, Again, while she goes out with him.
(MUSIC BREAK)
Still I sit too shy to tell her my feelings. Missing every chance to show her a ball.
Wishing other guys would leave her alone.
Until I can call, I Sit Alone, Again, while she goes out with him.
Sitting here, all alone, waiting by the telephone.
She's gone out with him . Come on home.
I think I finally got the nerve.
She's still out with him.
I think I finally got the nerve.
She's still out with him.
