Got this album when it first came out, I must've been only 14 or 15 at the time. I was too young to really know heartbreak but I had lost a close friend to suicide and this song always made me think of her.
I also always heard "you lift me up" instead of the "you left me" lyrics.
Love this album, thank you Blue October for such heartfelt music. I'm 28 now and still love hearing Foiled in its entirety.

if not a "friend-zoned" song; it's a song about old loves and missed chances. Its hard to accept that you've lost someone forever, and takes a lot of time and repairing before you're able to love again. for most, anyways. The hard choice is whether its better to be a supportive friend to the person you love, or save yourself the immense pain of having to watch from the sidelines. What do you guys think?

Just like everyone else, I relate to this song. I did come to see the light in my best friend back in November. I remember when she said to me she should have gotten with me a long time ago. She's married with kids but I'm glad she told me. She felt she owed me the truth even if she finally realized it years later. She is, unfortunately, in my dreams on a daily basis now. No bullshit. Hence why I'm here listening to this amazing song!

This song just fills me with happy. I have been in a situation like this with close friends. But I think the beauty of this song is that although the lyrics are sad and heartbroken, the music is so beautiful and moving that you cant help but still feel uplifted and looking with hope to the future. It can't rain all the time. And I feel happy for all those dear to me who are happy. :D I hope the smile forever!

I bought this CD when it first came out because of Into The Ocean. I sat in my car just rock'n with all the songs then this one happens. It's like Justin read my damn diary....I cried like a baby. Now several years later...still makes me feel the same for the same person. Except we are in exactly this situation. He didn't read my diary he predicted my future :(

it's interesting. the first time i listened to this song it consisted of slow dancing with my ex fiance and kissing in the dark and she'd just sing the song in the most..soothing voice. that was over 2 years ago. ironically i never thought the song was going to come to life for us. in a weird way, i think it was a way of love telling us you have eachother for now, but don't miss the big signs because it's not forever. learn from this. i dont cry hearing this now. i love you but goodbye<3+

I think this song is telling us that we shouldn't wait to tell the one we love our feelings towards them before it's too late, you have to tell them now or they are going to end up marring or dating someone else and you can never get to know the feeling of actually having them in your arms, not feeling the touch of their lips against yours, not experiencing the love and care that they will give to you, so don't waste time, it will only hurt you more.

My best friend just got married, I nearly died of multiple blood clots in my lungs.. Once out of the hospital I decided I'd tell her how I feel and wanted to be with her. I invited her over hoping to come clean, however she told me about this guy she's seeing and how happy she was. I supported her and now she's married with 1 kid and another on the way. I'm sad but blessed to be godfather to her child and glad she's happy. Hopefully one day I'll find the same.

After so many years of her being gone (2010)...watching daybreak and this song just brings the hurt right back. I hope you're happy M.K.W. I can say that I've moved on and I am happy. Met her 3 years ago and things are grand! I just wish the random reminders would stop. Sometimes you just cant stop loving even after the hurt.
