Blue Ridge Rangers Lyrics

Me gotta go, pole the pirogue down the bayou.
My Yvonne, sweetest one, me oh my oh.
Son of a gun, gonna have big fun on the bayou.
[Chorus]
Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and fillet gumbo
'Cause tonight I'm gonna see my ma cher amio.
Son of a gun, gonna have big fun on the bayou.
Thibodeaux, Fontaineaux, the place is buzzin',
Kinfolk come to see Yvonne by the dozen.
Dress in style, go hog wild, and be gayo.
Son of a gun, gonna have big fun on the bayou.
[Chorus]
Oh, guitar!
[Chorus]
Oh, Lord!
Hang tight, ooh Lord!
Ah, take it out.
He's comin', ah!
The song "Jambalaya" by Blue Ridge Rangers is a lively celebration of Cajun culture and the joys of life on the bayou. The opening verse sets the scene for the rest of the song, with the singer bidding farewell to his friend Joe and embarking on a journey down the bayou with his beloved Yvonne. The lyrics are filled with references to regional cuisine and customs, such as crawfish pie and fillet gumbo, and the lively rhythm and upbeat melody reflect the party atmosphere of a traditional Cajun celebration.
The chorus serves as an invitation to join in the revelry, with the singer encouraging listeners to pick up a guitar, fill a fruit jar, and "be gayo" - a Cajun slang term for enjoying oneself. The second verse introduces Thibodeaux and Fontaineaux, two characters who add to the festive atmosphere by bringing dozens of family members to share in the fun. The song ends with a flurry of musical activity, with the guitar player "hang[ing] tight" and "comin' on" as the revelers continue to dance and sing.

John Fogerty is awesome! I had a BlueRidge Rangers Album. I hope to get tickets next week to see him at Chastain Park in Atlanta on June 16! My daughter who lives on Riceville Rd will be flying here so we can go together. Thanks for sharing, Bill!!

Gotta be a good one to be at...John has given me a lot of enjoyment and pleasure thru the years. Can't imagine my teen years without CCR (and i still love em)...missed him thru the mid 70's to early 80's but on the radio a few notes from Old Man Down the Road and i thought "hey that sounds like"....Hope y'all make it and have a great time.

John Fogerty played all the instruments
THE FRY-KING PIG TROUGH
Yeah he does. Does a person realize how difficult that must be? You gotta hear the other instruments as ghosts, to know the part, because they're not recorded yet.......

This is a remake of an old Hank Williams classic in the early 50s. It was a #1 country hit back in 1952
