Begging You To Let Me In
Blue Rodeo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Think you see it coming then bang down you go
Who's out hunting trouble and trouble was holding your hand
Then you're staring back up at a jealous man
All I want to do is get back to
Oh I've made mistakes
The way that we used to be
But I've paid for all the trouble I've made
Alright I want you to know
I went down hard and I came back slow
But I'm on my feet again
And I'm begging you to let me in
I'm begging you to let me in
Here comes Chris with his hundred watt grin
Waving his arms and waiting for the fun to begin
We're downtown tripping not doing too much
Just weaving our way through the traffic when the sun comes up
Oh I've made a mess
All my life is falling apart
And I know it's just my carelessness
I've got to walk away
Alright I want you to know
I went down hard and I came back slow
But I'm on my feet again
And I'm begging you to let me in
And I'm ashamed of that I can't deny
I'm begging you to let me in
Oh I made you cry
All I want to do is get back to
The way that we used to be
I went down hard and I came back slow
Alright I want you to know
But I'm on my feet again
And I'm begging you to let me in
I'm begging you to let me in
I'm begging you to let me in I'm begging you to let me in
The song "Begging You To Let Me In" by Blue Rodeo tells a story about a man who has made mistakes and has paid for them, but still wants to be let back into a relationship that he has damaged. The first verse sets the stage for the theme of the song, where the man moves too slowly and falls victim to trouble that was lurking. He is left staring up at a jealous man, perhaps the one he has wronged. The chorus expresses his desire to get back to the way that things used to be, despite his mistakes. The second verse introduces a character named Chris, who appears carefree and ready to have fun. However, the singer acknowledges that he has made a mess of things and needs to walk away. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the man's desire to return to the past and his awareness of the impact of his actions.
The lyrics are a powerful message about the complexity of relationships and the difficult path toward redemption. The singer is not perfect and has made mistakes, but he still wishes to be let back into a relationship he has harmed. The song seems to suggest that although forgiveness may be difficult to give, it is ultimately worthwhile if both parties truly care for each other. Overall, the song is a heartfelt representation of regret and the desire to make things right.
