Blew It Again
Blue Rodeo Lyrics

A little place around the corner
Trouble comes from the strangest quarters
It snuck up on us now without a warning
Every night I hang my head outside into the stars
It's a wonder I can even talk at all
I walk by kids that hang on corners tripping out
Afraid of what they'll miss
I never wanted this
I played you all my favourite songs
Catch you when you fall
You look at me saying that's not it at all
Oh my I can't help wondering why I blew it again
I let you down
I watched your tears come splashing all around
All my life I feel like I've been blind
But the moments that shine
Are so hard to find
Hey look those northern lights are dancing
Come on out and we'll sit here on the lawn
We won't talk we'll only listen
Maybe we can stop what's going on
Every night we look out on what's left of all our dreams
It's a wonder we still can talk at all
Oh my I can't help wondering why I blew it again
I let you down
I watched your tears come splashing on the ground
All my life I feel like I've been blind
But the moments that shine
Are so hard to find
This song is about a relationship that has fallen apart due to the singer's mistakes. The lyrics begin with the suggestion that the two of them can no longer live together, and that the singer will find another place to stay. The trouble in the relationship came without warning, and the singer is left wondering how they could have missed the signs. They feel guilty and responsible for the pain their partner is experiencing, as shown in the lines "I let you down, I watched your tears come splashing all around."
The singer then reflects on their life, feeling like they've been blind for most of it but recognizing that there are moments that shine. One such moment is watching the northern lights, which they invite their partner to do with them. There is a sense of hope that they can still salvage something from the wreckage of their relationship, but there is also a feeling of resignation that they may have blown their chance.
Overall, the song is a poignant look at the difficulty of relationships and the pain that can come with mistakes and miscommunication. It highlights the importance of communication and self-reflection in maintaining healthy relationships.
