So far away
Blue Rodeo Lyrics

If you'll be in my dream
Still you are so far away from me
So far away from me
My love for you is a sin
If you're not there I never have been
Yeah you are so far away from me So far away from me
I don't have all of the time in the world
But all of the time that I have It is yours
All of the time that I have It is yours
You're so high dancing on your clouds
And I'm down here with this tired old hound
Yeah you are so far away from me
So far away from me
Close my eyes gently
Hold and caress me
My heart is empty
With you so far away from me
So far away from me
I don't have all of the time in the world
But all of the time that I have It is yours
All of the time that I have It is yours
I don't have all of the time in the world
But all the time that
I have It is yours All the time that I have It is yours
Blue Rodeo's song "So Far Away" is a love song that describes the pain of distance and longing for a loved one who is physically distant. The song opens with the promise of sharing dreams: "I'll be in your dream, if you'll be in my dream." This shows the singer's desire to be close to their lover even in their dreams, which highlights the emotional gap between the two. The chorus "So far away from me" is repeated multiple times, emphasizing the distance and the pain the singer feels. The second verse admits that the singer's love for their partner is a "sin" if the partner is not there. This sin can be interpreted as the inner turmoil the singer feels because they cannot realize their love in physical relationships. The bridge is about the singer's willingness to devote all the time they have to their lover, emphasizing their deep affection.
The third verse contrasts the partner's high, dancing on clouds with the singer's reality of being down on earth with a tired old hound, alluding to the stark difference in the partners' geographical locations. The final verse ends with the singer pleading with their lover to hold and caress them, emphasizing their yearning for physical intimacy with their partner. The song is a poignant portrayal of a long-distance relationship, with the singer expressing their love and desire for their partner despite the distance between them.
