Coast
Blue Roses Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Leave the troubles at the door
I need the coast of the East of England
He says
that I should follow him down
To the banks of a waste and wear
Where the mudflats and the sky
Stretch out all around
The lyrics to Blue Roses's song "Coast" are about escaping troubles and seeking solace in nature. The opening lines "Leave my house, Leave the troubles at the door, I need the coast of the East of England" suggest a desire to escape personal problems by going to the coast. The East of England's coast stretches over a significant length and is known for its scenic beauty.
The line "He says that I should follow him down To the banks of a waste and wear" can be interpreted as someone experiencing a lack of direction in their life and the guidance they are seeking from someone else. The "waste and wear" could be seen as a metaphor for the obstacles and challenges faced in life. The mention of "mudflats and the sky Stretch out all around" creates an image of vastness, which can be calming and peaceful.
Overall, the song highlights a common theme of seeking solace and comfort in nature. By escaping the troubles of everyday life, we can find peace of mind and inner tranquility.

Leave my house
Leave the troubles at the door
I need the coast of the East of England
He says โweโre all going one day
Why cling on?โ
I think that he and I will be saved
I want to see the electricity
On the masts of the ships
As the storm builds
Lighthouse beams
I know where I am
By counting the flashes
Years ago I read that there were
Ghosts here
I want to see the electricity
On the masts of the ships
As the storm builds

Such a lovey piece of music and lyrics. This track has been special to me since 09/10. Constantly in my playlists. A solitary song for quiet reflective moments. Yes. I am from the east coast of England.
