Burning Bridges
Blue Stahli Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

So love is a border town abortion
Elimnate everything I thought that I knew
I'm blindsided by a genocide decision
I'm just a bit jilted and giving the devil her due

Sucked in by insincerity
(It's what you wanted, this is what you will get)
Fucked by indulgent vanity
(It's what you wanted, this is what you will get)

So shallow - so hollow
Not buying what you're trying to sell
Well so long, and farewell
It's not goodbye, 'cause I'll see you in Hell
...See you in Hell!

You deserve every bit of what you're getting
I'm burning the bridge but you started the flame
If you think that this is all a bit excessive
The empathy and the intergrity -
matched what you gave

I can't wash out your aftertaste
(It's what you wanted, this is what you will get)
From when you showed your second face
(It's what you wanted, it's what you'll get)

So shallow - so hollow
Not buying what you're trying to sell
Well so long, and farewell
It's not goodbye, 'cause I'll see you in Hell
...See you in Hell!

In full devotion,
I forgot my fears to comfort yours
I guess recovery means,
You don't need me anymore... Yeaow!

So shallow - so hollow
Not buying what you're trying to sell
Well so long, and farewell
You only loved yourself...

So shallow - so hollow
Not buying what you're trying to sell
Well so long, and farewell

It's not goodbye, 'cause I'll see you in Hell
...See you in Hell!

I really love this as a companion piece to Anti You, the way it scales up in aggressiveness by comparison feels really badass. It's like, if a character in a film or game had Anti You as their theme; then Burning Bridges would be their new one for the sequel where they've developed yet kept their underlying traits, or perhaps the other way around. Lots of interesting interpretations and ideas to draw on in that regard.

3:12 is also freaking awesome on headphones O_O

HolyDuckTurtle Haha Anti you and Burning Bridges reminds me of Stone cold steve austin, with I wont do what you tell me his classic theme, and then his Disturbed Glass Shatters theme it added more depth and what not to the Stone Cold wrestler persona.

I personally think this is even better than Anti You, which is also a masterpiece!

Simply amazing! Bret is one hell of a creative artist without any doubts! This song gave me some reminders of the first Marilyn Manson works like in first 3 albums in terms of aggressiveness but with that Blue Stahli mark, not a copy but a totally original overall sound. Once again I'm in awe with Blue Stahli

First time I heard this song, firstly thought, "Shit, this is Blue Stahli?", the I as like, "*Facepalm* Of course, Blue Stahli likes trying different things." Someone tell me how exactly one makes a song sound totally distinct from another even though it uses the same instrumental? Such a raw track. Good shit, Bret.

I mean why is so little comments and views on this song? It is freaking great !!!

You are now one of my favorite dance rock bands. Your stuff is the perfect mesh of hard rock, and hard electronic sounds. I wish you played at rockfest. This is what i've been missing in rock lately.
