Frontman Gregg Fulkerson formed Blue Tears in 1983 when he was just 17 years old, with some childhood friends. The band started playing covers and doing small gigs around their hometown, but quickly progressed to playing their original music with steady shows with audiences peaking at 1,000 people.
The band recorded several demo tapes in Fulkerson's bedroom, and a local radio station played them constantly. One of those tapes reached somehow a Los Angeles-based record company. They signed a recording contract with MCA Records soon after. They released a single, 'Rockin' With The Radio' produced by David Cole in 1990.
The debut album, 'Blue Tears' was released in June 1990 with tracks like "Innocent Kiss" receiving heavy promotion. However, after some time, the band was dismissed as just another glam metal act in that genres fading wave.
After that, due to some troubles with MCA, Blue Tears didn't manage to release a second record, and their members got involved in other projects. Most notably, Fulkerson and Spears worked with Stryper frontman in his first official solo album released in 1994.
By 2002, Fulkerson and Spears were again involved in another project called Attraction 65. At that time, there was already some sort of cult following of Blue Tears. Some unreleased songs recorded previous to their album were being heavily downloaded through the Internet. Fulkerson decided to release compilations of unreleased songs in 2005, titled 'Mad, Bad & Dangerous' and 'Dancin' On The Back Streets.
However, in 2006, Blue Tears (only with Fulkerson, from the original band) resurfaced releasing an album titled 'The Innocent Ones'. The band was permanently dissolved after lead singer Gregg Fulkerson died on April 14, 2009.

Close your eyes, tell me it's alright
We've been runnin', chasin' shadows
We've been roamin' all our lives
Yeah, tonight it's you and me against the world, uh-huh
We're fighting to stay wild at heart
And screamin' to be heard
You'd better run, run, love is callin'
It's a long way home
Run, run, night is fallin'
Such a long way home
It's such a long way
Baby, baby, they say we're too young
And we could never make it on our own
We've got one shot, no second chances
And by the morning, baby, we'll be gone
Yeah, tonight it's you and me against the world, uh-huh
We're fighting to stay young at heart
And screamin' to be heard
You'd better run, run, love is callin'
It's a long way home
Run, run, night is fallin'
Such a long way home
We wanna live it up, we can't live on love
We need a shooting star, we need a miracle
And when we heard them say, you don't matter anyway
We'll take our chances, babe, it's such a long way
Run, run, love is callin'
It's a long way home
You'd better run, run, night is fallin'
Such a long way home
Run, run, love is callin'
It's a long way home
You'd better run, run, night is callin'
Such a long way home, yeah!
Mary, Mary, feel my heartbeat, yeah
Mary, Mary, can't you feel my heartbeat
Mary, Mary, it's alright
Love will come your way tonight, whoo!
Mary, Mary, it's alright
Gonna take you home tonight, ow!
Mary, Mary, can't you feel my heartbeat
Come on!
Mary, Mary, can't you feel my heartbeat, yeah
The song "Long Way Home" by Blue Tears is about two young lovers who are facing disapproval from the world around them for their love. The chorus is a call to action, urging them to run towards their love, towards each other, even though it feels like it's such a long way home. The song asks them to fight to stay wild at heart and to scream to be heard. It paints vivid images of two people who are young, yet they feel like they've been running and chasing shadows all their lives. Despite the uncertainties of their future, they're willing to take their chances and run towards love. The song is a romantic ballad that is both emotional and uplifting, and it provides hope to anyone who is facing similar challenges in their love lives.
One interesting fact about the song "Long Way Home" is that it was released in 1990 as a part of Blue Tears' self-titled debut album. The song itself was written by the band's bassist Ray Lemaire, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Another interesting fact is that Blue Tears was a part of the glam metal scene in the late 80s and early 90s, and they were often compared to bands like Bon Jovi and Poison. However, they didn't achieve the same level of mainstream success as those bands.
The song also features heavily distorted guitars, soaring vocals, and a prominent drum beat. It was produced by Beau Hill, who is best known for producing albums for bands like Ratt, Winger, and Alice Cooper. Hill's production style is evident in the song, and it adds to its overall anthemic feel.

LONGO CAMINHO PRA CASA
Mary, Mary, sinta meu batimento cardíaco
Feche os olhos, diga-me que está tudo bem
Andamos correndo, perseguindo sombras
Mary, Mary, sinta meu batimento cardíaco, sim

One of my alltime favorite songs. Criminally underrated band. Greg's vocals and song writing imo are better than some of the biggest if the era
