Currently, the group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999.
While Blues Traveler is best known among fans for their improvisational live shows, the general public is most familiar with the group from their Top 40 singles "Run-Around" and "Hook". They gained mainstream popularity after their fourth studio album four, released in 1994. Sheehan's death and Popper's struggle with obesity put a damper on the group's success, and A&M dropped the band in 2002.
I Have My Moments
Blues Traveler Lyrics

Coupled with the things I've told
And a dream can be as one
I have my moments now and again
I said I have my moments now and again
Started in a dream
Wound him up on a baseball team
A be minus seventeen with a hefty load
Full of cargo and of spice
Yeah a pirate ship who craves advice
From the likes of Peter Pan
You know I hear he's wanted by the law again
I said I have my moments now and again
Wandering highways nothing is planned
Drifting dancing and I was over sand
Blowing around in my face, here I am
Waiting in wonder, wonder why
Picture a spinning toy laden with adventure
Coupled with the things I've told
And a dream can be as one
I have my moments now and again
I said I have my moments now and again
Now the tiger's got his eye
What shall we do oh me oh my
Better hide your daughters
Yeah, we're in shark infested waters
But the children can't be harmed
Yeah, they are on to
You and heavily armed
With a leaf and a kazoo
How can they be of use to you?
And we wonder together, at least
There's something running around
In this big wild wideness
Gonna look around, gonna get
Lost, gonna rent a car
Gonna make the most anyway
Take me take me for a ride
On the biggest largest
Vehicle you can ever
Possibly imagine
Get the keys let's go drive
Take me for a ride
In the biggest vehicle you
Can ever possibly imagine
Get the keys, I want to take a spin
Let me in, let me in
Picture that, picture it all
Winter, spring, summer and fall
Picture a spinning toy laden with adventure
Coupled with the things I've told
And a dream can be as one
I have my moments now and again
I said I have my moments now and again
Gonna ride off in the sunrise
Gotta win our Nobel Prize
Gee, I wonder what we'll say
Do our homework on the way
Gonna meet the King of France
Tell him, Je n'ai pas de pantelons
Give his cigar a light
Then slip away unnoticed into the night
Wandering endlessly wherever I go
Never to be, never to be alone
The ride isn't free
At not much of a cost
Memories so innocent
Should never be lost
Picture a spinning toy laden with adventure
Coupled with the things I've told
And a dream can be as one
I have my moments now and again
I said I have my moments now and again
I said I have my moments now and again
The lyrics of "I Have My Moments" by Blues Traveler are a whimsical, dream-like journey with no clear storyline. Rather, the lyrics represent a series of disconnected images and ideas that seem to flow together seamlessly. The song opens with the image of a spinning toy full of adventure, followed by a hazy yet hopeful assertion that a dream can be as one. The chorus repeats this idea that the singer has these moments of something special in his life, but they are not fully formed and are fleeting.
The first verse paints a surreal image of a dream where the singer winds up with a baseball team and takes it on the road. The verse also references a pirate ship and Peter Pan, further adding to the whimsical nature of the narration. The second verse takes a darker turn with the mention of tigers and sharks, but the overall tone of the song remains playful and lighthearted.
The song concludes with the singer contemplating the idea of never being alone and the value of memories. Again, the final chorus repeats the idea that the singer has moments in life that are special, but they are fleeting and often disorganized.
Overall, "I Have My Moments" is a fun and imaginative song that speaks to the power of dreams and the importance of cherishing fleeting moments in life.
