Currently, the group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999.
While Blues Traveler is best known among fans for their improvisational live shows, the general public is most familiar with the group from their Top 40 singles "Run-Around" and "Hook". They gained mainstream popularity after their fourth studio album four, released in 1994. Sheehan's death and Popper's struggle with obesity put a damper on the group's success, and A&M dropped the band in 2002.

Love the low rider
Low rider
Gonna get a little higher
Low rider
Gonna get it in the street now
Low rider
Take a little trip
Take a little trip
Take a little trip with me
Take a little trip
Take a little trip
Take a little trip and see
The lyrics to Blues Traveler's song "Low Rider" are all about celebrating the low-rider car culture. The song talks about how the singer's friends all love these low rider cars, and how they are going to get "a little higher" in these cars. This could be seen as a reference to the fact that these cars can be lowered to the ground, giving them a sleek and impressive appearance. The next lines talk about how the low riders are going to take to the streets and show off their moves, suggesting that owning a low rider is not just about the car itself, but also about the lifestyle that goes along with it. Finally, the song encourages the listener to take a little trip with the singer and see the world of low riders for themselves.
Overall, "Low Rider" is a song that celebrates the car culture of low riders and the lifestyle that comes along with it. It is a catchy and upbeat tune that invites listeners to join in on the fun and experience the world of low riders for themselves. The song's simple but effective lyrics capture the excitement and energy of this subculture, while also conveying a sense of camaraderie and community among those who share a love for these cars.

This band is completely underrated. I saw them at a small venue a couple years ago. I was able to basically stand right at the stage as they just burned the place to the ground. Popper is a special special talent.
