Tracy Jacks
Blur Lyrics

(Tracy Jacks) works in civil service
(Tracy Jacks) it's steady employment
(Tracy Jacks) is a golfing fanatic
(Tracy Jacks) but his put is erratic
(Tracy Jacks) saw a Harley Street doctor
(Tracy Jacks) who prescribed healthy living
(Tracy Jacks) but he's getting past forty
(Tracy Jacks) and all the seams are splitting

Everyday he got closer
He knew in his heart he was over
I'd love to stay here and be normal
But it's just so overrated

(Tracy Jacks) left home without warning
(Tracy Jacks) at five in the morning
(Tracy Jacks) got on the first train to walton
(Tracy Jacks) and stood on the seafront
(Tracy Jacks) threw his clothes in the water
(Tracy Jacks) and ran around naked
(Tracy Jacks) got stopped by the police
(Tracy Jacks) and escorted back home

Well, everyday he got closer
He knew in his heart he was over
I'd love to stay here and be normal
But then it's just so overrated

Tracy Jacks
Tracy Jacks
Tracy Jacks
Tracy Jacks

And then it happened on a Tuesday morning
Tracy Jacks bulldozed down the house he lived in
Saying it's just so overrated

Tracy Jacks
Tracy Jacks
Tracy Jacks
Tracy Jacks

Everyday he got closer
He knew in his heart he was over
I'd love to stay here and be normal
But it was always overrated

Must have been amazing to have lived in a time when this was considered accessible pop music for the masses - there's really creative musicianship and musical interplay combined with socially conscious and aware lyrics, there aren't many if any pop acts out there today with their eyes open like this.

Dan Ashcroft

@Paplar then you shouldnt bw with them then...

Dan Ashcroft

Yup the 1890's was quite a time sonny...

Paplar

This was before mainstream music was so commercialized with social media like tiktok. Theres still great music out there as always, but depending on who youre with you might get weird looks if you play it in the car

@Samantha Larner I was only 14 but I didnt become aware of the album until my 20s.

I wish I could go back. I was 18 when this album came out.

Even though this is only the second track in the album, it would also make an excellent final track in Parklife. It really has that finale, feel-good vibe.

The Yellow Light Saber

@Agsma, Just Agsma Im sure that wasnt the intention, Blur dealt with off kilter tunes, far from being a "good vibe" its spose to signify the guy's descent into madness under the guise of hedonism which is what youre no doubt confusing as the "good vibe" but this is in no way a feel good tune. Blur's themes on thier first three albums generally dealt with ennui and the insanity of people living boring repetitive lives in the suburbs.

@The Yellow Light Saber I rarely pay attention to lyrics in a song. I'm more of a melody-focused guy, hence why I find myself tapping my foot at this song, despite its dark themes.

The Yellow Light Saber

Feel good vibe? its about a middle aged man having a mental breakdown......
