There were blue skies in my city today
Everything was sinking
Said snow would come on Sunday
The old school was due and the traffic grew
Upon the Westway
Where I stood watching comets lonesome trails
Shining up above me the jet fuel it fell
Down to earth where the money always comes first
And the sirens sing
Bring us the day they switch off the machines
'Cause men in yellow jackets putting adverts inside my dreams
An automated song and the whole world gone
Fallen under the spell of the distance between us when we communicate
Still picking up shortwave
Somewhere they're out in space
It depends how you're wired when the night's on fire
Under the Westway
Now it's magic arrows hitting the bull
Doing one eighty still standing at last call
When the flags coming down
And the Last Post sounds
Just like a love song
For the way I feel about you
Paradise not lost it's in you
On a permanent basis I apologize
But I am going to sing
Hallelujah
Sing it out loud and sing it to you
Am I lost out at sea
'Til a tide wash me up off the Westway

When my daughter was 6, her class had a little lip sync competition going. The other kids all brought in their current pop radio hit staples, my daughter sang this song. I don't think the other children or teacher new what to make of this. She didn't win the competition, but everyone reading this comment knows she really did. So proud.

As am I… 🖤

@gabelogan56

Wow. Just wow. An old soul she must be. I reckon she'll rediscover and deeper connect to this song as she goes through her (no doubt glorious) life. This might just be the most powerfully human song Damon has ever written. And that's saying A LOT as you know. And indeed... your daughter won that competition by lenghts.

That is so sweet. Hello from Brazil.

@DemoverProjectMusic

Your daughter was fantastic, (without taking anything away from the other children) if Gia so small to choose a similar song means that in something that cannot be bought ....Have you ever asked him what feelings it feels to listen to this song ??music .. I repeat if your daughter chose her at only 6 she must have an uncommon type of sensitivity, given the silly music that you listen to on the radio ... Thanks friend for sharing your emotion with us🎸🙋🏻

That girl, won more than the competition! The competition wasn’t even on the radar!

No one, absolutely no one, can create such melancholic beautiful sentiment as Blur. They are everything

@jonnyrace6900

Somehow the exquisite happiness and unbearable sadness of life simultaneously encapsulated in a song. Unbearably beautiful.

@alijnr123

God, that's beautiful. And awfully true

@kevsonic

I absolutely agree.
