In 2012 Bo was invited to audition for the BBC talent show The Voice UK. In her blind audition Bo sang the David Guetta and Usher hit "Without You". Coaches will.i.am and Danny O'Donoghue turned round in a bid to add Bo to their teams. Bo opted to join Team Danny as she felt that she and Danny had the most in common.
In her first live show on 5 May 2012, Bo sang "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush. Bo received praise from all four coaches and was voted through to the next round of the competition with the viewers' vote. Bruce received the praise of the songwriter Kate Bush, who posted a message to Bo on Twitter, Facebook and katebush.com. In the statement Bush congratulated Bruce on her "fantastic performance". Bush also stated that she thought Bruce's performance was "really beautiful and moving" and also said that she "felt so proud of Bo".
Eventually making it to the final of the show on 2 June 2012, Bo sang three songs. The first was "Nothing Compares 2 U". After that she sang with her mentor Danny before Vince Kidd was announced as the act in fourth place. Bo went on to sing her favorite song of the series, "Charlie Brown" by Coldplay. Bo was announced as a runner up alongside Tyler James to winner Leanne Mitchell.
Her debut album, Before I Sleep, was released on 29th April 2013.

And messages from foreign lands.
There’s blood on me, there’s blood on you
It’s killing me, it’s killing you.
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
All of the time we wasted waiting for the right time.
Huwhoa-oh-whoa
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
If falling rocks should break us (?)
They told us that’s when we would climb.
The thicker skin could not be moved
But there’s blood on me, there’s blood on you.
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
All of the time we wasted waiting for the right time.
Huwhoa-oh-whoa
Huwhoa-oh-whoa
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
Call out the (?) is shining
Call out the sky’s breaking
Call out the don't (?)
Call out the don't (?)
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
Sinking slowly drifting through this falling landslide
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
Huwhoa-oh-whoa
Huwhoa-oh-whoa
(Ooh-ooh-ooh-oooooh)
The lyrics to Bo Bruce's song "Landslide" are open to interpretation, but they seem to deal with the struggle and ambiguity of a relationship that is falling apart. The reference to a "falling landslide" can be interpreted as the weight of emotions and history coming down on the relationship, causing it to slowly crumble.
The first verse describes a moment of uncertainty and the feeling of being caught in between two worlds. It seems as if the message being received from "foreign lands" could refer to the opinions and advice of others, potentially causing confusion and frustration in the relationship. The mention of "blood" could signify the emotional pain and damage being inflicted on both parties.
The chorus suggests that despite the struggle, the couple is still "sinking slowly" and "drifting" through the falling landslide. They have wasted time waiting for the "right time" to save their relationship but it seems as if they are stuck in this cycle of uncertainty and pain. The repetition of "Huwhoa-oh-whoa" creates a sense of desperation and longing for a change or resolution.
The second verse continues the theme of struggling within the relationship. The couple has been told that if they encounter "falling rocks" or obstacles, they must "climb" and persist. However, this has created a sense of rigidity or "thicker skin" that prevents any sort of progress or intimacy. The mention of "blood" again highlights the emotional tolls that the relationship has taken on both people.
The coda of the song seems to be a call for help or resolution. The couple is experiencing a breakdown and is reaching out for someone to "call out" and intervene. The repetition of the chorus creates an uneasy sense of falling, as if the couple is lost in a cycle that they cannot escape.
Overall, "Landslide" is a poignant and emotive song about the complexities of love and relationships. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but the sense of pain and longing is universal.
