Well (bring it to Jerome)
Every day I work (bring it to Jerome)
Bringing home my pay (bring it to Jerome)
Come to find out baby (bring it to Jerome)
You've bin giving my money away (bring it to Jerome)

(Bring it to Jerome)
(Bring it to Jerome)
(Bring it to Jerome)

Tell me baby (bring it to Jerome)
What you tryin' to do? (bring it to Jerome)
You ain't seen me hummin' (bring it to Jerome)
Like you used to do (bring it to Jerome)

Say (Bring it to Jerome)
(Bring it to Jerome)
(Bring it to Jerome)
(Bring it to Jerome)

Tell me mama (bring it to Jerome)
What's wrong with you? (bring it to Jerome)
You know pretty baby (bring it to Jerome)
I'm so crazy 'bout you (bring it to Jerome)

(Bring it to Jerome)
(Bring it to Jerome)

All you pretty women
Bring it to my home
You don't have to worry
I won't do you no wrong

Bring it on home

Bring it to Jerome
Bring it on home
Bring it to Jerome

Look here pretty baby
This mess I won't stand
All the other women
Say you got another man

Bring it on home
Bring it to Jerome
Bring it on home
Bring it to Jerome

Overall Meaning

Bo Diddley's song "Bring It to Jerome" tells a story of a man who works hard, brings home his pay and later finds out that his partner has been spending his hard-earned money. The man confronts his partner and demands to know why she has been spending his money. The phrase "bring it to Jerome" is a request for his partner to explain her actions and bring the money she has spent back to him. He goes on to ask her if anything has changed between them, pointing out that she doesn't hum to him like she used to. Bo Diddley's lyrics portray a man who is hurt by his partner's actions but doesn't want to give up on their relationship just yet. He also assures all the other women that they can bring anything they need to his home without fear of him hurting them.

The song is an example of Bo Diddley's signature beat which he used in many of his songs. The beat, also known as the "Bo Diddley beat," involves a simple rhythm of two beats followed by a pause and then two more beats. The rhythm has been used in many rock and roll songs over the years.

That was my favorite record when I was 2 years old. And still is way before it's time the messages in the music.

At the Apollo in 1956 besides Bo was Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, the Heart Beats, Robert & Johnny , ...
Bo was the TOP for me and most of the audience.. . people went wild , dancing in the aisles, .. there were speakers on each end of the balcony that were 9 feet high, 4 feet wide and close to 3 feet deep !!!

For my money, this is one of the three best tracks in his vast recorded legacy. The good Professor McDaniel is greatly missed.
